Ever since I quit smoking, my breath has been soooo bad! What that heck is that about? I have gargled, listerine, water picked my teeth and throat etc. It is so strange. I figured, once I quit smoking I'd have great breath but no, it isreally bad. It was never bad, other than smokey, before.
Any thoughts?
Thanks! :)

Hey Jayssababy,
My first thought after reading your question is how multi-layered the smoking habit is. It's just not simple.
First off, how many years did you dump extract-of-cigarette down your lungs?
How long have you been quit?
How long have you noticed that your sense of smell got enhanced from when you were a smoker?
I've been quit 88 days and continue to be impressed by smells I had forgotten about or never registered any more.
A fairly ugly 'aha!' moment when you realize it is coming out of yourself.
Lungs are pretty nifty devices for 'respirating' gasses in and out of our bodies, and as smokers, we habitually did some pretty ugly things to them that I'm sure didn't enhance their efficiency....
Well, okay, it was more than one thought...;)
Hang in there, it *does* get better.
I've smelled worse! :D
Best Regards,
DeadFish

Jayssababy, when I quit I had a dry mouth and was thirsty all the time and I felt that I had bad breath too... but that all went away in time and now I don't have it. Chew some gum, suck on a breath mint... as the Deadfish (yikes, what a smell :dizzy: :jester: ) said, it will get better!! Good luck!! :blob_fire

Jayssababy,
I might be a reaction to the medication you are taking. Check the pamplet.
Do like Traveller suggests...eat mints, chew gum. It might also be that your smeller is working better and you are just now noticing odors you never noticed before.
Good Luck to you!!

I can top the gross detox side effect. My feet peeled, big gross sheets of skin came off, but after my feet were really soft, it was like having new feet, but I did have a cool side effect the tremendous bags under my eyes went away for the most part, now I just have overnight bags instaed of steamer trunks. If it doesn't cool out soon go to your Dr. it could be a sinus infection. My son gets them alot and I can always tell because he has major funk o breath

Glad you posted this! I noticed the same thing when I quit. I think it's a symptom of your body detoxing...I remember reading about it on other quit smoking sites.
I had the stinky breath along with bad stomach cramps...I was a mess for about a week or so!
