My labiaplasty surgery is done...I'm sitting here on towels to keep pressure on the area. There is a lot involved in healing afterwards. I am feeling kind of depressed. I'm happy that it's done, I just feel trapped since I have to sit on towels for at least 8 weeks! I can do other things, but sit on them as much as possible. I had to sleep sitting up last night, but of course I didn't sleep! I'm very uncomfortable, but the pain is bearable. I have in-laws coming in town and they're probable gonna wonder why the heck I'm sitting on towels all the time and wearing such bulky pads! If anyone has been through this I'd love to hear from you.

Haven't been through this type of surgery. But I know one thing that the healing process doesn't last forever, it just feels that way right now. Think about how happy you will be in a couple of months when your all healed. You will think it was all worth it and will bearly remember how you feel right now. I've been through some tough surgeries and once the time passed I still remember but would do it again because I made it through. Keep your spirits up and hopefully your friends will support you, just let them know that you need your spirits lifted, alot of friends don't realize that you need them especially if your like me and act strong. Please write back and let me know how your progressing. I will be having my surgery on Monday for a tummytuck and will be in the same position as you, but will try to check in on the board once I get home on Thursday, spending extra time in the hospital.

Thanks marie72! The fact of the matter is that only the doctor and my husband know that I had the surgery. I'm too weary of even telling my mom! Thats why I wrote on here, actually. I'd like to get some advise from ppl who actually have had the stuff done. I really appreciate the reply. My spirits are a lot better since I got home. When I wrote I was down from having to sleep-sitting up-in a chair! And the pain wasn't helping either. I had my 2 kids at the hotel in FL and it sucked that we couldn't go do something fun. So different things going on, but I have high hopes! I hope yours goes well! My sister wants that kind of surgery. How much does it cost? She's a mother of 3 with LOTS of stretch marks-from right under her rib cage to right above her pubic bone.
I still have pain and swelling, hopefully I'll see some good results soon. Good luck to you!

I can understand wanting actual advise, I found that once a discussion starts that other are more than likely to jump in. Hopefully, someone with actual experience will respond. As for no one knowing, I've been there and never knew this site was here, so I'm happy you found it and can express your concerns, fears and emotions. As for the tummy tuck, it's probably around 10,000, your sister should discuss it with her gyn, sometimes there is a medical reason to get it and the insurance will cover it. Just tell her to make sure that she loses all the weight she wants to before the surgery that way they will take away the excess skin. Hope your feeling better soon!

Hi Marie or anyone else in the similar situation. I'm not sure if you are still checking this and I hope you are fully healed, but I am going through the same thing that you did when you had surgery and need a little encouragement as well. I had labiaplasty 2 weeks ago, and I am so uncomfortable still. The labia looks really swollen and gets bigger when I walk around. It still rubs when I walk (which is what I wanted to get rid of). I'm just getting scared that something went wrong but I keep reading all of these conflicting responses on what recovery is like. Did anyone feel this way after 2 weeks? Is this normal? When can I expect to feel better? Thanks everyone.

Hello, it's been almost 3 mos. since my surgery and I believe I'm completely healed. I've seen women write that they're still healing at 6 mos.....but I haven't seen any changes since 8 weeks, except that I'll swell after things like swimming or sex. As for your situation, did you have the laser(trimming) method? That's what I had done and I saw results right away. I don't know how much you had removed which might make a difference, and my surgeon had much different instructions for the healing process than most that I've read about. She instructed to apply pressure to the area as much as possible for 8 weeks(I only found it necessary to apply pressure for about 3-4) but after applying pressure the swelling went down significantly. I'm sure it's completely normal for you to be swollen, but for it to look exactly the same as before is odd. I would definately give things another week though. If you want to try the pressure thing, just lay down and use your hand with a gauze or I used a wet wipe(like the flushable kind or baby wipe) and just apply pressure exactly where you need to. You should see a difference within about 10-15 min. Just try to be patient and good luck!
