I'm in my late 20's and never had abnormal pap results. I had my routine yearly pap in January. I received a phone call in early to mid April telling me that it came back abnormal and that I needed to return. When I returned I learned that I had High Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions. I then had a colposcopy and biopsy and now await the results. Does anyone know why it took so long for them to relay the results? Is it normal? I am very anxious and don't know what to do. They want to perform a LEEP procedure shortly. Any advice or comments?

Hi, I had an abnormal pap when I was pregnant. I also had the colposcope done. It took my Dr about a week to get the results back and everything was normal. The lesion in which he thought was "pre-cancerous" was not. I was worried like you but honestly dont be to worried about it. Really looking back I think I was so worried about it I was so uptight and so freaking out that I think that is why I miscarried. Ya that was no fun, but I am getting through it. As my Dr always tell me...If you trust me you have nothing to worry about. As for my results from the pap took my Dr about a month to let me know and get me scheduled for the colposcope. Really if you trust your Dr let him worry about it. I called my Dr back the day he told me it came back abnormal and he made me say to him "I dont have cancer" "I dont have cancer" It really maded me feel better. I wish you good luck and you will be ok.

By the way I am also in my 20's.
