Hi! I was on Estrostep FE but switched to Ortho Micronor about 11 days ago. I am now having HEAVY bleeding even though I've already had my period. Is anyone else on this mini-pill? If so, did you experience this during your first month? Thanks

Hi, as women sometimes we don't check everything about a pill before we start taking it. We think the doctor knows best. Well for some women going on some of these birth contral meths can lead to problems. If you are bleeding that much I would go off that pill right away. That is not normal. I would talk to your doctor. and from personal experiance don't do any of the shots in the arm for birth contral that also can lead to heavy bleeding and problems they tell you it won't but 9 times out of 10 it does. Best thing is a low dose birth contral pill with a normal period or condoms.

Most research shows increased bleeding in the first months of this pill...supposedly decreasing within three to six months. My doctor has asked I fulfill the six month trial period to give it a fair assessment...Since my other options have dwindled, I'm inclined to agree and hope for the best.

Why are you taking a progestin only pill?

I'm currently taking ortho micronor too.

I was on Alesse28 for almost a year. But then my doctor switched me to this pill because I had migraines. She said progestin only pills won't give me migraines.

Anyways, this is my second month on the pill. This month I had my period early, on the 24th day, rather than on the 28th. But my period was light.

I don't know if it was my body adjusting to the new pill or not. Hopefully my period will be regular again. But I heard that a lot of women get breakthrough bleeding while on this pill. I hope I won't experience that.

I'm on it because of the migraine thing... I'm not sure if I like it yet and I've had a few scares already because of the whole "you have to take it at the same time every day". Has been a bit better lately though.

Well, I took it 1/2 hour late a few times, and I didn't get any breakthrough bleeding or spotting the next day.

I'm finishing up my second pack. My first period on Ortho Micronor was normal. My second period came early, on the 24th day. It lasted 7 days, but was very light.

The doctor did tell me to give my body a couple of months to adjust to the new pill. I'll post anything new up if I experience it.
