I've been having problems off and on for about 2 years now and since December it's been almost a daily thing. After trying a few things and a few tests, the HIDA scan done April 5, showed that my gall bladder was not working properly (only 16%). I am scheduled for surgery next week.
My question is, why does it seem like I've been getting more and more pain and nausea almost constant for the past 2-3 weeks now? Could my gall bladder get that bad, that fast? Also, if I don't have gallstones, then what's making me hut so bad?
Oh, the ultrasound done two years ago showed no signs of gallstones.

I'm going through the same thing right now. First, the stress of feeling bad day in and day out and fighting the pain every day will wear you down and make you feel worse. Try to get lots of rest, it will help some. My pain and nausea is almost unbearable at times. I don't have any stones either yet I also have pain. I think, in my case at least, I waited too long. They kept telling me that the ultrasound didn't show anything so I kept believing they knew what they were talking about. Little did I know, just because the ultrasound doesn't show any stones, doesn't mean your gallbladder isn't malfunctioning. If I had only insisted on some further testing last year, I wouldn't be sick as a dog and 35lbs lighter. Hang in there. Just try to rest until your surgery. Good Luck!

I felt worse after having the HIDA scan done, up until I had my surgery. Now I am feeling yucky four weeks after surgery, but with totally different problems.
Have you had a recent ultrasound to confirm that no stones have come since your previous ultrasound? that might explain the onset of more pain. Not totally sure though. I know I didn't have stones or sludge, but I still had horrible nausea and vomitting every day. I had had the nausea and vomiting constantly since September of 2006, and then it got really bad after the HIDA scan. The technicians that did the HIDA scan said that me getting worse afterwards was not the cck injection that kept me sick. They didn't ever figure out why it got worse right then and stayed that bad until I had it out.

I'm so sorry you're still feeling so bad Bananrama. Compared to you, I feel great.
I've only vomited once, so I can't complain. But yes, having constant stomachaches and feeling sick to my stomach a lot really doesn't make me feel like doing much else. I do force myself though, and a lot of times, I feel better while I'm keeping busy. It's when I slow down that I really notice how bad I feel. Maybe that's why I keep busy. Also, I've been trying to get everything done I can before I have the surgery b/c I know I won't be able to do some of the heavy gardening afterwards.
The last ultrasound I had was almost 2 years ago and there were no signs of stones then.
I've only got 6 days left before the surgery, so I can wait it out. I am just hoping and praying that I feel better afterwards. It's really hard to have a good sex life when you feel sick all the time.:p

Hey Forensicmom! I hope that the surgery goes well for you! Maybe the pain is getting worse because you have stones that have developed in the past 2 years, or maybe you have sludge or something. I don't know. I really hope that the surgery makes you feel much much better!! Good luck, and keep us posted on what is going on!!

Hey Forensicmom! I just wanted to check up and see how you were feeling after the surgery. Hopefully you are doing better! I am feeling much better with my stomach! I jsut got to worry about kidney stones now. Those hrt like the devil, and I have been having the pain for about two weeks now. Oh well, it will be over with soon, like hopefully next week the urologist will do something about it. They think that they are stuck. Apparently I have a lot of them, but they are only going to worry with the ones that are causing pain. Anywho, I am gonna let you go, but keep us posted on how you are feeling!!!

Thanks. I sure hope this new surgery takes care of your pain. After going through the gallbladder surgery this week, I can't imagine having to go through another one so soon. Good luck.
It's still too early to tell how I'm feeling b/c I'm still very sore. I also still have some of the bloating, which makes it hard to take some nice deep breaths. As I posted in the other post, I was eating regular foods (shredded wheat, turkey sandwich, coffee) with no complaints. Today was the first day I really haven't felt too great. Just the stomach ache and upset stomach.
One of my biggest problems is with weight. I can't spare any extra weight. I'm only 105lbs now at 5'3 and after 4 kids. I actually had one of my neighbors comment that she thought I was anorexic. I'm just small and with feeling sick, it's hard to eat a lot.
