GeorgiaPeachie 04-30-2007, 08:09 PM Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what the meds ran? My insurance covers testing, diagnostics just not procedures and we aren't sure what the coverage will be for meds (probably not much at all)
I'm just looking at the budget for next month, wondering how much we will have to squeeze...
KJinKy 04-30-2007, 08:24 PM Do you know which meds you will be using they are all different? I am using follistim and for two 600AQ and 4 antagon and HCG was 1017.00 but I ordered it from Europe. My RE said it was safe and would save us money and it did save us $600. I was really pleased.

GeorgiaPeachie 04-30-2007, 08:36 PM No I'm not sure what meds I'll be on. I guess I find that out on May 15th. I'm just trying to "budget" Gosh I hate that word! Right now we are living on as little as possible just in case...
Viktorria 04-30-2007, 08:39 PM The only one I'm sure about is Lupron - it runs about $400 per vial.
When i used Gonal-F, my prescription was for 40 vials (4 vials a day for 10 days) and without insurance it ran $3,500. Pretty scary!
Kari15 04-30-2007, 09:19 PM Hi Peachie - The only stims that I have used are clomid (which I know you have tried before... but I must say that this cycle I brought my clomid prescription to Costco and it was half the price as the regular pharmacy!) and bravelle. The bravelle cost about $50 per vial, as did the trigger of HCG. My insurance covers absolutely nothing, so the cost of meds is painful... like the RE visits aren't $$ draining enough! But like DH and I say - a healthy child for us will be worth every penny that we spend on IF. We don't let the money stress us out. Just keeping the faith
GeorgiaPeachie 04-30-2007, 09:25 PM I know that a healthy child will be worth it! I just keep repeating that...
I've managed to squeeze about $1600 from the budget a month. If it is more than that, we'll just have to sit out a couple months ya know? Surely my doctor will be sensitive to the fact that we have BUDGET! LOL I hate that word by the way.. I like to call it splending plans instead of budgets.
Kari15 04-30-2007, 09:31 PM I'm sure your RE will absolutely understand that you are on a "spending plan" (I like the term too!). There are many of us who proactively track the dollars... both spent and anticipated! Good luck sweetie. Let us know how the appt goes.
Golds 04-30-2007, 10:57 PM I also have no coverage for anything. I paid both the times from the pocket. On meds, I had spent $2200 - 2400/ cycle and my meds list includes Lupron, Manopur, Gonal-F, Prog.Oil, antibiotics, estrace tabs.

GeorgiaPeachie 05-01-2007, 12:21 AM WOWZA Golds! I guess I'll just have to see what my RE says. Just feeling kinda nervous about the whole thing.
laurunner 05-01-2007, 08:40 AM Hey,
My follistim is $200 per 300 iu cartridge. It obviously depends on your dose to see how many you will need. Last cycle, I needed like 3 or 4, but if I go again, I'll probably end up needing 4 or 5.
Also, the HCG trigger is usually around $40.
