Hello,

I dont know what is wrong with me, but for about the last 6 years or so, I have had abnormally long bowel movements. I cannot keep them under 20 minutes. I keep being told that I need to spend less time on the toilet, but I can't! It is very embarrassing, and I dont know what to do about it. Now I'm finally trying to seek some answers.

Because of this, I have an "inactive" hemorrhoid, which doesn't bother me, but I think it makes it harder for me to go. (sorry for the terminology, but its what I deal with). What can I do to get rid of this?? My doctor said "don't sit for so long", but like i said before, I cannot seem to do this.

Any suggestions???? I'm desperate.:dizzy:

Thanks

I think you need to start taking a water soluble fiber supplement like Metamucil twice daily and drink 6 to 8 glasses of water daily.
It will help bulk up your stool and make you more regular w/o straining.

Hi! Sorry I can't help you really. I just wanted to note that my BIL is INFAMOUS for "long-winded" 1/2-hr toilet visits!

Now, he has acid-reflux problems and maybe some other things (not sure).

But as it is, he just enjoys himself and reads in the potty! LOL. Yes, we make fun of it but he just "goes with the flow" and treats it like his time off! LOL.

Maybe try some fiber as Harry said, but if you're not having other problems, maybe don't worry so much! Or if so, visit a doctor who will take you seriously. At least 1 who might wonder if something is wrong, or will tell you there is nothing wrong with that! (Sounds as if your current doc thinks it's a pavlovian thing.)
