Hello,
I need suggestions on what to do. Im 26 years old & get severe headaches 2-3 times a wk. Sometimes they seem sinus related, tonight what is keeping me up is its everywhere, including the back of my head and neck. I can not sleep its keeping me up.
I never seemed to get so many headaches before. I got pregant with my son in the spring of 2005 and got very bad headaches throughout the pregnancy, especially in the 2nd trimester. I heard somewhere that pregnancy can bring out headaches. My father is the same way, he gets headaches alot. This is making me so depressed and also I think its also starting to hurt the marriage because I ususally wont want to do anything if I have a headache. Staring at this computer is really hurting me right now.
Anyone please, help me, I need some direction. Thanks for your help.

Hi Hypnotic, I have bad headaches just like you and what i do is use a T.E.N.S machine and have a cup of tea and listen to some soothing music, a t.e.n.s machine is a small electronic device that has leads with small pads on the end that you attatch to either side of you neck, when you turn the device on it sends small tingles of electric throught your skin and this massages the area as well as disrupting the pain signals to your brain that are travelling up the nerves in your neck to your head and this eases of your headache after about 15 to 20 minutes, if you want to find out more about this device do a search on the net and will find lots of info and they are not to expensive. i hope that helps you a little

Hello Hypnotic,
I feel for you.
I have suffered with headaches & migraines since i was 16 (31yrs.now).
My father has also, since he was a teenager. I used to get 2-3 a wk., but since i was around 24, i get them EVERY SINGLE DAY. Most of the time it is just a dull headache, but 1-2 days a wk. i get either a severe headache, or a migraine.
I have also heard that pregnancy can bring them on (something to do with hormone changing). I actually had less of them when i was pregnant (lost baby though).
It is hard to pin point what type of headache it is because sinus h/a can mimic a migraine and so on. Since my dad has tried everything in the universe, we actually both went up to Chicago hospital for it. It is called Diamond Headache Clinic and it is like a rehab, but for migraines sufferers. It is inpatient and you usually stay for atleast a week.
It did help my dad (not me) for a few yrs. But like all meds., it eventually stops working as well and needs to be changed.
Since you are only having them 2-3x a week, and it has happened since pregnancy, it is probably hormones. I don't know what you have tried, but for me, it depends on which type of h/a i have.
If sinus: I take (2) Benadryl severe sinus headache & lay down with a cold pack over my eyes.
If it is tension: I take (2) Excedrin & 1-2 Advil. The anti-inflamm. helps with tension in neck, and caffiene & asprin in Excedrin helps pain.
Migraine: I try the tension stuff and if hours later it is not better, i take an IMITREX (prescribed RX)
I hope this will help. Let us know.
