My bf went to the dentist for the first time in years they took an x-ray and everything was fine except to redo a filling. He went back a week later they gave him a deep cleaning and he was suppose to make an appt. for his filling, but didn't do it yet. A month 1/2 later he gets a toothache and goes to another dentist they take an x-ray and they say he needs a root canal done. For my other question i want to know if the 1st dentist could have done anything to his tooth while getting the deep cleaning cause he was fine until he went to the dentist. And back to my original question how many x-rays are you allowed to get (within 3 months) cause hes going to a 3rd dentist and they need to take an x-ray before they do the root canal.

As to the question of the deep cleaning, most likely it doesn't have anything to do with the need for the root canal. And you can have as many x-rays as needed. When they do the root canal (and I trust he's going to an endodontist for that!), they'll take several as they go along to be sure they've cleaned it all out. I had one done in February and they probably did 6 or so.

Well my bf went to the dentist (3rd one) and he took x-rays and he said he couldn't find anything wrong with his teeth:confused: He said it could probably be his wisdom teeth, but the doctor said he was young for it to be his wisdom teeth (mybfs 23). The doctor gave him some vicadin for the pain and has to go back in ten days to see if theres any changes and possibly sending him to a specialist. I just don't understand how the 2nd dentist said he needed a root canal. He would of paid $500 for something he didn't need.
