I was just wondering if any of you have had any luck taking buspar for the anxiety that goes with perimenopause. Also were there any bad side effects. Thanks.

I've taken buspar for some time. It is somewhat helpful for anxiety although not as effective (or addictive) as xanax, etc. Initially, it can make you feel dizzy and drowsy. I take it at bedtime to avoid these side effects.

i take buspar. it has helped tremondously. 3 years ago i got hit with anxiety big time. couldn't eat or sleep. was put on a couple of antidepressants but side effects to bad. so put on buspar and it worked wonders. until last year when the anxiety came back. i was put on a higher dose and it seemed to work well. this is the time of year that it hits the worse. i did have some breakthrough anxiety in dec about 10 days before my last period. have only had 2 periods in the last 11 months. seem to be dealing with some depression now. this is not fun. God bless:angel:

Did you have drowsiness and dizziness as a symptom also. Did you have any other side effects. Also how long did you have to take buspar before you started to notice that it was working.. I am starting to think that i am ready to give buspar a try..

i went from 4 hours of sleep a night:angel: to 6 hours in 4 days. by two weeks my husband and i went away for a long weekend. and i did great. i started on 15mgs twice a day and didn't have much side effects. maybe a little dizziness about 20 minutes after taking it. it didn't last long and was gone once i adjusted to the meds. the medication can stop working after awhile on a lower dose. i have tried antidepressants and i consider this buspar a miracle. God bless:angel:
