View Full Version : Shortest cycle yet - 13 days

Hi Ladies,
I've been on here over the past year complaining of my shotend cycles (usually 19-21) days.
Well, here it is day 13 and it seems like it may have started - I've only had a few spots so far, but that's how I usually start.
I should have had a clue, since yesterday I had my 'day before' migrane and my breats have been sore a few days (which I thought was earlier than usual this month).
My question is: should I be concerned it's so early? Should I be more concerned if it's just spotting as opposed to a full period? And should I start counting again from today (being the first day of my cycle)?
I was hoping to start getting them further apart at some point. I'll be 49 in a few months, and my mom was finished with all this by 45.

Thanks,

Mary

hello mary. to answer your questions:
no, you shouldn't be concerned your period is so early, that's just the way it goes at this time of life.
and no again, you shouldn't be more concerned if it's just spotting. again, that's just the way of things.
as for when to start counting from, well, that's anyones guess.
i got to the point that i just gave up counting or expecting anything, just accepted that my period would arrive when it did, last as long as it wanted, and was very grateful when it was just spotting or 'normal' as oppose to very heavy and flooding.
sorry not to have been of more help mary, but it's different for everyone. the only sure thing is that it's natural and will eventually all be done with. and you will feel a whole lot better.
good luck.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the input. I figured that it's a normal part of 'peri'. I called my gyn, just to see what she had to say, and pretty much the same as you. She offered to give me progesterone - to take during the second half of my cylce so they don't come so close together. I'm researching this option. I've read both pro's and con's about it.
Since it seem like I get them twice in one month sometimes, I may give it a try. I just wish I would start missing them, as that would seem to make more sense to me.

Thanks,

Mary

I think its probably normal....In the past 2 years my periods have been 13 days, 25 days, 28 days, 35 days, and a few times I have skipped a month or 2, only to go back to the 25 days....

I just wish it would be over and never come again..I was so happy when I missed almost 2 months, and then I got it again!

Nancy
