I am interested in hearing from anyone who has a child born with Unueqal Pupils (called Anisocoria) or has Horners Syndrome (has other symptoms besides Unequal pupils). I have an older child who also had "Simple Anisocoria" at birth , but his was less noticable than this baby's, so I worry ---his might have been off by 1mm--- whereas my Newborns (in dim light only) can be off 2mm or more, hard to judge, but very noticable if you are looking. He does not have any other symptoms, just not sure what to do. He seems too youung to be taking to an Optomologist to have this Eyes dialated -just to rule out Horners??? I read somewhere just getting Eye drops can Cause Horners ?? I am hoping this is just a genetic thing in my family, as his brother had it, also an Uncle. I guess I am just worried as the difference in the size in Dim light seems more than 2mm. This eys does Dialate and contract normally -it just dialates Less than the other eye. ANy advice from parents dealing with a similar situation , would be much appreciated.
I know this is an old thread but I have a daughter with the same thing. I took her to a ped ophthalmologist who said because her eyes react to light and the smaller pupil does dilate a bit, just not nearly as much as the other one, and no other symptoms, he's quite sure she doesn't have Horner's. Yet he didn't do the cocaine drops to rule it out, and now I'm still nervous. I'm wondering if I should insist on them. Are there any risks? She was born in March, so she is 2-3 months old (she's actually 3 months but was born 1 month early).
He measured them to be about 1.5 mm difference, but I think it's even greater. I'm just very worried - don't want to put her through unnecessary tests, but also don't want to lose valuable time if there were to be (GOD FORBID!) something terribly wrong with her.

I really wish I could view the picture you are trying to show, but they do not allow this on this message board I guess, but If I was you, I would trust the Doctor here, your situation sounds almost identical to mine, I took him in about 2 months old also, and his difference is more so I think, I do not even recall now what I said it was , but is stated earlier in these postings. He is now 15 months old, in dim light the difference is still noticable-even striking (as the Doctor called it), and everything is perfectly fine. No Horners, he would have had some droopy eye lids by now, and even a change of eye color in one eye possibly. I think there are some risks involved in cocaine drops, I remember reading about it, plus his Pediatric Ophamilogist said he would not put my son through that since he is 99.9 % sure he is just born this way, as I would also be sure your daughter was, glad you noticed it THIS soon. Cause that is always the 1st question they ask, is when was "this difference" first noticed. Othamologists see this ALL the time, I would not worry, they know what they are looking for.
