4 years ago i had some cosmetic surgery done(breast implants) and i was in a ton of pain. a week later out of the blue i couldnt breathe, my plastic surgeon said its probably because i was so swollen so i figured thats what it was from. well it never went away. i have some days that are better then others but i have been suffering with not being able to breathe rite for 4 years now and all the doctors just want to say its anxiety. i found alot of info ABOUT HERNIAS CASUSING THE SAME SYMPTOMS so i have an apointment with an upper gi this month and also a lung doctor. is it possible that i got a hernia from my surgery? from being in so much pain ? also after i eat alot it feels like the upper part of my stomach is in a knot which constricts my breathing and same thing if i do certain activities around the house. feels like my stomach tightens up inside and i cant get a deep breath.

I wonder the same thing.... I am having similar issues. It is as if I try to get a deep breath, like every minute or so, and I have a hard time getting a deep good breath, sometimes I resort to yawning to get it. I had an ultrasound Mon. everything came back normal, now they want to do a HIDA scan tomm. to check the function of my gallbladder... I mentioned the hiatal hernia, but the nurse said most times with that someone will swallow food and have the feeling it is stuck in their throats or something... I don't have that, but she said you never know, and that might be the next step after this HIDA scan if it comes back ok.....
It is frustrating not knowing what is wrong with ya huh?? I have the breathing issue, bloating very badly in the upper ab area, under ribcage, etc. and no appetite. It is annoying..... hope you figure it all out, sounds like you could have a hernia, but really I am in the same boat, and have no real advise:( sorry...

if you do a search for shortness of breath from hernia, you will see all the stuff come up. there was one website about it that even said if you have to use your chest and lift your shoulders to take a deep breath its usually a hernia. i also get dull pains that come and go in my chest area and that is also a sign. im only 33 and had a stress test done a few years ago so i know its not my heart. its just weird that it started after my surgery. also you can have reflux without getting heartburn. alot of people that have this shortness of breath end up finding out they have sum type of hernia or gerd.

I mentioned this to the dr. maybe he will test for this, after my HIDA scan comes back showing it is not my gallbladder ( if it does.. ya never know) I did hear something about the 2 going hand in hand kinda.... so maybe I have a bit of both?? I hate this not knowing:( Good luck!!!

I had this same symptom about 2 years ago. I went to 2 different Cardiologists because they all thought it was my heart. Problems with my heart were found (coincidence) but were not the cause of my shortness of breath. I have a hiatal hernia. As long as I take my Protonix, I can breath. 1 week off of it, and I start having the breathing trouble again. The Gastro specialist didn't think that my hernia would cause this, but it did.

As Much As I Dont Want Anything Wrong With Me I Hope That This Is What It Is Just So I Have An Answer Cause I Really Cant Stand This Anymore. Did Your Stomach Hurt At All When You Pushed On It. What Made You Go To The Doctors? What It The Breathing? And Also What It Constant? Thanks
