Hello, I am hitting the weights and I am really clueless on what to eat throughtout the day...I know is suppose to high in proteins and low in carbs...but waht do you actually buy? I am somewhat strapped for cash..between school/flying I dont have too large of a budget to spend on food. Anyways can someone give some tips on what to eat everyday...ill list what i do now.
MOrning-2 eggs with 2 pieces of bread, bowl of rasian brain cereal
lunch-turkey sandwich, pj sandwich, granola bar, carrots
dinner-Chicken-2 pieces, sometimes burgers or spaghettti.
snack late-tuna can.
I a lot of times feel like I am not eating enough..but I jsut do not know what to eat..aslo I think im gonna get some whey protein so to fill in the needed proteins..any suggestions?

I'm not going to claim that I'm an expert or anything, but I'd eat more veggies and fruit...

I suppose you're trying to gain mass? At first glance it looks like you're not eating enough to gain anything. I would add at least 2 same size meals you're already eating. And don't be afraid of carbs when you're bulking. They're the primary energy source for your body and essential for muscle gains.

Good & cheap foods would be for example: eggs, milk, cottage cheese, tuna, beans, soy beans and nuts.

The key word is "preparation". It helps a lot to carry food with you and snack when you can. Canned tuna can be your best friend for lean protein sources when on a bugdet and "on the go". 35 cents a can, 150 calories, 37 grams of protein, negligible fat. Pre-cook chicken and carry some in a baggie to eat during the day, if you have an opportunity. Fresh or canned veggies are important. Low fat or fat free cottage cheese is a good protein source, relatively inexpensive. Fish, lean beef, chicken etc is good for larget meals. Pasta, potatoes, oatmeal, whole wheat bread etc are good complex carbs. Nuts, avacados, fish oils, olive oil are good healthy oils.

To see if you're eating "enough" your calories ought to be addung up to about 12 to 15 times your bodyweight. But thats just for maintenance.
Hope thats helpful.

shakes are a good way to get in some cals on the go. Not whey though - save that for post workout and early am.
check out MRP's...they are nutritional and really arent that expensive. Although i suppose thats a relative thing...
or you could blend up a shake with whey.
often ill use this;
1.5 - 2 cup skim milk, 2 scoops whey, .5 cup oats, 1tbl spoon flax oil.
adds up to a load of cheap cals.
i believe its around 600cals, 70g prot, 60g carb, 10g fat.
you can split that in two containers and make a couple meals out of it
