I really dislike being an ectomorph, and I'm sure there are others as well they are frustrated with lack of results. I was just wondering if there are any advantages of being an ectomorph body type when you are lifting for maximum strength and mass?

You can cut and stay lean more easily than meso- and endomorphs. And you can eat more "bad foods" and not to worry about getting fat. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/wink.gif

You take the good with the bad. You'll never get super big even though over the last 10 years, I have put on about 35 LB. Even at my current weight of 195, I still consider myself lean. I agree with the other poster about eating as I have a somewhat liberal diet where I deviate away from my protein-based foods.

How do you learn what bodytype you are? (links would be appreciated)

Generally:
Ectomorph = Naturally very lean and skinny. Thin bones. Low muscle mass and find it hard to gain any muscle or fat. Good at endurance events like long distance running.
Endomorph = Naturally round. Big heavy bones and lots of muscle. Build muscle easily but also find it hard to lose fat. Usually good at things like power lifting, "worlds strongest man" type events etc.
Mesomorph = Inbetween ecto and endomorph. Naturally muscular and atheletic. Lean, but not as lean as ectomorphs. Relativly easy to build muscle and keep fat off. Good at power events like sprinting, long jump etc.
People are rarely solely of one type. A mix of two is most common.
