Hi ladies,
I had the leep today and just wanted to share my experience with those of you who may be doing one later. My doc gave me some anti-anxiety pills for the night before and the day of, but I only took them 1 hr before the procedure when I was really getting nervous. Also I took 800mg of ibuprofen 1 hr before it. Once it came time to do the actual leep, it was very easy. They insert a wider speculum than for a pap and then swab antiseptic on your cervix. AFter that they gave me several local anasthetic shots -- this was probably the most uncomfortable but NOT painful, just felt weird...and then as the anasthetic kicks in you don't feel the subsequent ones. Then your heart rate speeds up for a litle bit which is the drugs kicking in, no big deal just made me want to shake like i was cold (but wasn't). she asked me to keep still during the part where they scrape the cervix, and that was pretty easy. during the actual scraping procedure i felt absolutely nothing, the smell wasn't bad either. it was over in about 5 minutes, and i still feel fine (no cramping) except for some drowsiness from the ativan.
anyways, just wanted to let you guys know ive had a very positive experience and that i hope you do too!!!
