Surgery is Monday and i am freaking out. If any one has had a lymphadnectomy pls respond to the this if you can. How many lymph nodes do they take out? My Dr. said he can't look at the nodes and tell if they are cancerous so he takes them all out. That seems way to aggressive to me. Any help here pls??? Thanks

I have not had that surgery, but my brother did for testicular cancer. I think in his case they took out somewhere between 20 and 30 (?) That's the range that sticks in my head. The only other thing I can really add is that he's now going on 7 years cancer free (yeah!!) so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I am scheduled for a radical hysterectomy with lymphadectomy on 5/23/07. My GYN/ONC said he would take all the lymph nodes from the pelvic area also. I have no idea exactly how many that is. I hope your durgery goes well and we will all be thinking about you!
