for any of you who remember my previous posts, i am still in limbo. Rheumatologist says its not auto-immune, ID says she is not "convinced" of infection. not convinced, but still wants to run western blot, and pcr again, despite negative antibody at 8 months. general practitioner still thinks HIV.

this is really scary. i swear if she told me i was HIV+ today, i could deal with that better than not knowing.

iron was low 10 (norm 20-50)
all auto-immune tests were negative.
low red and white cells
neutrophils were high

despite this, i cannot figure out the reason she is not "convinced" its infectious. she admits she is puzzled.

my oral palate, especially, still looks infected, after 9 months-bumps, redness, lesions-nastiness.

glands under chin (lower neck was very irritarted too for months, but they seen normal now) still hard and swollen. why isn't anyone taking that seriously? it is definitely not normal for them to be swollen this long.

derm said the "rash" on my chest is sun-damage. i do not agree. it directly coincided with this 3 month viral illness i suffered.
it is not as noticeable in the am-but looks blood red by evening. ID did agree it looked like HIV rash, but said i wouldn't have it 9 months later?????

i am constantly sick with colds... 3 seperate since april.

your gp is WRONG there is NO possible way to detect hiv thru symptoms, sorry, no way, no how, no where! if you were getting symptoms from hiv don't you think it would be detectable in a test?????????,if it was enough to be affecting your body it would be found!!! stop the symptom chasing!!!you are negative as i have repeated many times to you.the only thing i can say is find another opinion as stated before, your symptom chasing is a waste of time trying to associate them with hiv.i really hope you find out what it is that is wrong staar, but its not hiv. i wish you the best!

again--thank you for trying to reassure...and believe me... i want to believe you :) at times i am even logical. then i get sick again, i go to the dr. again, they want to test me again. 9 doctors so far.

if even 1of them had any other diseases to point to i would feel better. this oral mucosa stuff especially...none of these dr.'s can come up with another reason except HIV causes it.

i don't know what kind of doc to see next....rheum. says that's a definite no. the ID/HIV dr. says she doubts it would take that long to show up, but agrees that is seems a lot like HIV infection.

believe me.... i want to forget all about this...but its not going away and the doctors aren't even helping me.

i am so trying to grasp at other straws!!! even that there is something in this ancient house of mine making me sick!

staar, let me tell you something, i have had hiv for 10 years when i got infected the symptoms kicked my butt so bad there would be no way i would of been on the internet chasing them around i had to go to the hospital and get help.i wish you the best, but imo if you were feeling symptoms from hiv it would be easy to find in a test.

Your Doc is not an HIV specialist and has NO idea what he is talking about, for most people an HIV test is defenitive after 3 months, for people with other health problems and weaker immune systems a 6 month HIV test is usually advised as a precaution just in case. AFTER this amount of time HIV is NOT you problem whatsoever. NO WAY, impossible.

i am well aware of those facts. some of the dr's are agreeing with it. and believe me, i want to believe it with all my heart.

please don't think i am stupid or crazy. there are documented( and i understand they are very very rare) cases of delayed seroconversion. i wouldn't keep coming back here if i wasn't still having these problems. they keep ruling out everything else. some even say that HIV can definitely be ruled out.

and i am seeing a HIV specialist at a University Hospital and her opinion is like a see-saw. one day she says....seroconversion issues (rash, fevers etc.) don't last this long. then the next appointment she says the rash definitely looks like ARS rash...but again says i shouldn't still have it. she has RAn this clinic for 6 years.

so far she has done HIV 1/2 antibody and HIV 1 viral load tests which are negative. she wants me to have a western blot now and others. i know you all think i am over re-acting, but how am i supposed to feel when HIV specialist says this?

again, auto-immune was ruled out. and quite a few dr's say they have never seen this mucosal disease in HIV- population.

and smiteler- again thank u for the reauusrance. your opinion makes sense to me, it really does. do me a favor, next time you see your HIV specialist ask their opinion.

by the way i was that sick in the beginning. i couldn't get out of bed for 4 months, and was hospitalized, no one would do the in-depth tests at the beginning, because they said it takes time to show on antibody, blah blah blah.

it seems like i am obviously bothering everyone here, i just wanted some advice and to see if anyone else had went through this.
