Hi, I'm 23, I just had a colonscopy because I've had many symptoms that made me fear I had colon cancer, this didn't turn out to be the case, and the colon looked fine. Some of them are pain in my life side in the pelvic area, it hurts when I strain to go, gas, and sometimes only be able to go a little. I had no idea these symptoms could possibly be ovarian cancer until I looked them up. Normally I have a good apetite but last couple weeks I haven't I have a little bit to eat and I feel full. Sometimes I do feel like I'm having bloating and pants are harder to fit, which I hear is big symptoms. I'm going to my GYN in a couple weeks, I've always had my pelvic exams yearly and PAP smears, but I hear this wouldn't be enough to detect it...any thoughts, am I too young for ovarian cancer?

if you are worried go get it checked out. Unfortunutly your aren't too young but it usually effects much older ladies. I am 25 and I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer 2 years ago. Although I didn't have any symptoms other than an unknown mass.

Good luck

Yeah, I have my yearly exam in a few weeks and I will mention it than, I read that ovarian cancer can spread to the rectum, sigmoid colon, and lower bowel, I know it hasn't gone that far, and I haven't gotten a call back about a chest X-Ray for a persistent cough I had taken on Monday, so I know that isn't likely serious either, they must've not found anything in the lungs, or I'd have heard by now, so at least I know, if that is in fact what this is, it likely hasn't spread too far, but I will still definitely mention my symptoms to my GYN.

It could also be Endometriosis. Look it up and see if many of the symptoms match what you are experiencing. I had surgery for this at age 24 and it definitely can cause gastrointestinal symptoms. It requires an outpatient surgery called a laparoscopy to diagnose. But also check on the ovarian cancer. It may not be anything that serious, but you will never have any peace of mind if you don't follow-up. Bless you and hope you find some answers.

I have just looked it up, and yes, my symptoms (gastro problems, back pain, etc) do seem to be just as consistent with endometriosis as with ovarian cancer, so I will have it looked more into when I see my GYN later this month...

I have been dealing with bloating, stomach discomfort from gas, constipation and I hurt in my lower left ovary area which goes down into my groin. I don't go for a ultra sound for another week, I was thinking maybe I am having some ibs problems, but the colon oscopy was fine. hope you are all doing well today.

Hey, Yeah, I just saw my GYN this past Tuesday. My colonoscopy was fine as well, although I'm having a lot of the same problems you are with the stomach, as well as occasional bloody stools, which according to my colonoscopy from May 2nd, are only due to hemmoroids and anal fissures, nothing else was found. But I am constipated, go a little at a time like 4-5 times a day, and have frequent urination, when I hear 3 or less is more "normal" and I have some pelvic pain and bloating like you. The GYN said the ultrasound I had two years ago didn't even show my ovaries, so that must mean they are small, and she doesn't see a need to redo the ultrasound, what do you think? Should I be demanding more test or just leave it as being IBS?
