A poster in a gym (which name I shall withhold) said that cycling burns more fat in an hour than other workouts. It emphasized that cycling burns more fat than calories (which the poster said was a better thing) for less strain.
Is the poster true in both aspects? That cycling is the best workout and that fat loss is better than calorie loss?
(Forgive the rushed entry, but I am being rushed myself.)

I haven't heard that one. I've always read the the treadmill is the best overall cardio workout, although I personally like the elliptical. I wouldn't think cycling would be the *best* calorie burner, since you are sitting down most of the time. Spinning is another matter altogether.
My understanding about cardio is that lower intensity exercise burns a *greater percentage* of fat, but high intensity burns more overall calories. Both increase your metabolism for hours afterward, so it all depends on what you are more likely to stick with.

I know at my gym, they refer to cycling as spinning. Spinning lasts about 50 minutes, and let me tell you, it literally works your but off. I am also an avid runner, and spinning gets me out of breath and very very worked out so I know it works my muscles well, especially the butt muscles.
