Hi everyone, my name is May. I'm a mama to 3 and have been married to my guy for about 10 yrs. We are a military family, now in NOVA.

About 8 years ago, I went through the whole process of having abnormal paps, then in the end getting a LEEP. A biopsy was done and it was noted that I had CIN III. We did the watch and wait and I had normal paps, until this last time (JAN).

I received my results: ASCUS w/ undetermined significance. My HPV test came back negative. I called the women's clinic and they told me that my next pap would be my routine annual because the HPV was neg. I questioned as to whether cervical CA can occur without HPV and she said it was highly unlikely.

Given my history I requested that I at least could be seen at the 6 month mark and she stated that I probably couldn't get a provider to see me.

Am I just being paranoid at this point? I am willing to pay for a pap from another provider, but I just wanted to guage as to whether or not this is standard?

Thanks so much for reading this far! I am glad I stumbled to these boards!

I don't think you're being paranoid at all. I'd want to be seen too. Part of it is simply being comfortable with your level of treatment, and if you aren't...then that's not good, you know? Is the problem that your military providers won't refer you? Can you go outside the system? I mean, health-wise, I'm sure you're fine, but there are people who get cervical cancer who are hpv-negative, and given your history, I think erring on the side of being conservative is very reasonable. Good luck! Let us know what happens.
