OK, I have now gone around 13 months without a period. Does this mean I am in menopause now. If so does this mean all the symptoms will start to go away? Just wondering if there is light at the end of the tunnel:wave: :dizzy:

You are in menopause. As far as the symptoms go, it is anybody's guess. My friend is 71 and she said she still gets hot flashes. (I was shocked and a little depressed at hearing this)
Remember that everyone is different. (At least that is what I am telling myself!)

hi. well i'm a couple of months ahead of you, about 15/16 months period free, and i was beginning to congratulate myself that most of my symptoms had slowly started to disappear. i even posted somewhere on here that the hot flashes had gone down to about 1 or 2 a day, or even less, and then they went away altogether for about 4 weeks. yipee, i thought, finally through it. no such luck. the hot flashes started up again about 5 weeks ago, just like they did in the beginning all those years ago. sort of flickering feelings at first and then settled down, to yesterday being the worst day for them in a very long time. so i shan't be patting myself on the back again for a good long while!!
you are in menopause as you've gone 12 months without a period, and i have my fingers crossed for you that your symptoms start to recede, which i'm sure they must as some point, even if you do get an odd hot flash as some older ladies do. good luck.

OK, thanks for your replys. However, I spoke too soon. After all this time I have now started spotting again. What is this? Is this OK? Thanks again:dizzy:

i would just go with the flow (so to speak) and ignore it if it's only a bit of spotting. pretend it's not there, refuse to have anything to do with it, don't acknowledge it, move on. ain't life a pain??

Sorry to tell you all, but I've been having extreme hot flashes, followed by feeling very cold, for over 6 years now. Sure hope this doesn't go on and on and on till death!
My doctor says I can't take hormone replacement pills because of my many other health problems, such as cystic fibroids in breasts, etc.
I used to take soy isoflavone pills, just one a day, which helped BUT read they were dangerous so stopped taking them.
Do any of you know of a herb that will stop these #$@% hot flashes? or at least decrease severity? Also that's safe and won't cause weight gain or stomach aches?
