Hello,

I havebeen a member of Health Boards for a long time, but not an active poster. I don't think I have ever posted on this section of the boards but I am finding a need some support and opinions would really be helpful too.

I am 29. My husband is 35. We have been TTC for 7 years. With no luck. We have both been tested and we both have issues. His is low mobility and low number of. Mine has been not ovulating and that I have a high insulin count, 74 when last tested. (Which my dr. explained to me as not being the same as getting my bs tested. but actual insulin level my body is producing. Still a bit confused on the difference in that. But she said normal would be more like 12 to 20. She said I am pre-diabetic.)

I have also had numerous test run check uterus, overies, etc. And all of that has been normal, except the lack of ovulation. I very rarely have periods, and not without help.

Two years ago my Fert. Dr. put me on metformin, hoping that would help. It did not. It helped me loose weight though. (I dropped 100 pounds in the first 6months.)

A few months ago I started doing herbal research, as using herbal cures has been a part of my life, all my life. (But my husband was not so keen on the idea for TTC. Which is why I had not tried them up till now. Just now we are starting to feel the desperation crunch kicking in with us both getting older.)

I found a combination that I believed to be good. Started taking them, and got my first period without being on BCP's and then another and then sure enough I got my first positive ovulation test (salive:ferns) on the 17th of April, 2007. We were so happy. We called up my Dr. and told her and she hit us with, "Thats wonderful. But I just don't think it's going to happen naturally for you guys." Talk about killing hope.

But we sucked it up, picked up our teeth, and decided Dr.'s don't know everything and miracles happen. So we will keep the positive outlook and keep trying. SO I ahve continued taking the herbals + vitamin suppliments.

I have been keeping track of my temp., ferning, and CM, everyday. Here's where it gets odd though...

After that first positive ovulation on the 17th, I got another positive on the 22nd. I scratched my head, confused. Two OV's in one month? (My period was not due till the 4th of May still.) So I call my Dr. again. She tells me that absalutly woman can OV twice in one month, it's rare, but yes it can happen. Again she gives me the "its not going to happen" speech. And I'm starting to think "This woman is a real downer. Where is the support?"

Ok. Cool. We'll just keep TTC. Then something odd began to happen. I have had a positive OV test every single day since the 22nd. Thats 2 straight weeks now. Again  , confused. What the heck is going on here?!?!

I decide to go to a different Dr. mid two weeks of ferns. He says, "NO way. You can not OV twice in one month. One cycle, one OV. And tells me the constant ferning is a sign I could be pregnant but to come back 5 days after my period is suppose to start, providing it doesn't, and he will do a blood test.

So here's the delima: Two solid weeks of ferns, and my temp. has remained high. But over the past week, including first thing this morning, I have taken 3 HPT. And nothing...all negative. I'm due to AF today. Nothing as of yet.

I'm so confused. If I'm not pregnant, then why the constant ferns??? :dizzy: Why the high temp. sticking around??

*banging head on the table*

Has anyone else ever had anything like this happen to them?????

hi

i dont understand everything you talk about but i have PCOS as well which is what I believe you have. i do not have the insulin resistance or the weight issues that mostly comes along with PCOS but my levels are screwy and i barely would get my period. I got positive ovulation results EVERYDAY of my cycle starting with day 5. My doctor said that is part of because our hormone levels are not normal. I believe that is why you are getting the false positives.

Have you tried Chlomid? It worked for me with PCOS but I dont think my DH has sperm motility problems. I was also told that trying naturally wouldnt work for me. I was then told the Chlomid wouldnt work and that I would need IUI. My doctor was wrong and i got lucky. I got pregnant on the first try of Chlomid. Obviously i was very blessed and this doesnt happen for most BUT... it does happen and hopefully I can give you some hope. I am now 13 weeks pregnant with what I think is a healthy baby. I hope you get the same

Yes, I'm sorry I didnt mention that. I have been told I have PCOS as well. I'm very scatter brained at times...lol

So that can make you read false on the fern test huh? Wonder why my Dr.'s didnt tell me that? :( *sighs*

Sometimes I just feel so very tired with this emotional rollercoaster. And today is a big one. Still no AF. Maybe the herbs have just stopped taking effect. I don't know.

hi I also have PCOS with insulin resistance and no ovuating. Periods came now and then. After 12 years of ttc and using clomid of and on for about 10 years I went to an RE who recommended injectibles/IUI and after 3 cycles I got preggo. I now have a healthy 3 year old son and ttc again. We are on our first injectible/IUI cycle. So don't loose hope. My re said lots of PCOS patients only need clomid which is fairly cheap compared to injectibles so if you and DH are willing it may be worth a try. I am also on metformin now and when I conceived my son. Hope this helps and good luck.

Glad to hear stories about people who have healthy babies it encourages those who are struggling with infertility related problems. Clomid also helped me alot.

Hi! I was just reading your post and I thought I'd add something that's worked for DH. My DH also had low motility and morphology, and he has been taking 1 packet of Emergen-C and 1 L-Carnitine daily, and his counts have greatly improved! Just wanted to share that with you, it may be worth a shot!
