okay i have no insurace but i asked the pharmacy not to give me the generic for ortho tri cyclen, they gave me the generic anyway, i didn't realize it til i got home can i take it back now and tell them i want the name brand? is there i difference. i'm 22 and was never on any form of birth control. my main concern is weight gain considering i just lost 40 lbs. i do not want to gain weight. does anyone know how common it is to gain weight with this brand?

Im on tri sprintec, its fine, generics are the exact same thing as name brand drugs except cheaper, some people say the generic is different or bad but I think that it is all in there head. Very rarely people may react badly to the inactive ingrediants of a generic but not often. I think people who have bad side effects blame it on generics, but it's really just that birth control can be fickle and for a while a pill will be great for someone then out of the blue start causing problems, these problems would have happened if they stayed on a name brand pill because its the same thing, but blaming the generic makes them feel better or something. I 've done this, I was on desogen (name brand) and it was great, then I switched to apri(generic) after a few months I started to have weight gain, mood swings etc. I demanded to be switched back I paid $45 for the desogen only $10 for the apri and guess what? switching back to the name brand did NOTHING for may symptoms, Then I switched to name brand OTC for 4 months then I got sick of paying for it so I went on Tri Previfem (Another generic for OTC) Then I moved and changed pharmacies and I am now on Tri Sprintec. I've been on OTC/generics for a year and a half no difference in any of the pills. I say give Tri-Sprintec a chance, why pay more for the same thing?
