Hi everyone,
I haven't posted in a long time, but I was wondering about something. For several months I have had a little redness in my right nipple. My primary care doctor didn't see the redness when he did the breast exam, but he thinks it may be hormonal. My gynecologist noticed the redness, and said since there is no rash, itching, or scaly skin, that it was probably inflammation. My breast exams and mammograms came back clear. Anyway, I am going to have my friend, who is a dermatologist look at it this month. I haven't had a period in about 5 months, and my hormones are completely out of control! I've been dealing with all the unpleasant symptoms of menopause for a long time now.
Have any of you had this? Any responses will be greatly appreciated!
Have a good Saturday...

I have not had this symptom. Since your other two doctors weren't concerned, I wouldn't be either. I would, however, ask your friend the dermatologist to have a look. Couldn't hurt to get another opinion.

Thank you Kati, for that good reminder. I had a mole one time that my doctor was far less concerned about than I was. It turned out fine. I think our health anxiety is intensified during menopause, because so many strange things happen to our bodies. However, as you pointed out, we shouldn't be more concerned than our doctors are...
Happy Sunday!!

in the years leading up to menopause (which i now know was the beginnings of peri) my nipples itched ALL the time, i even wore out a couple of bras by constantly having to scratch or rub them through my clothes. i started wearing seamless bras and that helped, along with moisturizer. i'm sure your redness is nothing to worry about - did you change shower gel, washing powder, talc, etc., recently?

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your response! I have always used Ivory soap and Johnson's baby powder, so I haven't changed anything. My gynecologist had me try some Cortaid for the redness, and it seemed to help a little, but I don't use it every day. It may just be from these fluctuating hormones. It seems like the longer I go without a period, the worse I feel! This "change of life" is quite a journey!
Happy Sunday evening!
