View Full Version : Waist Liposuction - wearing vest

I had liposuction done about 2 weeks ago. I'm pretty (very) good about wearing my vest 24/7 and my understanding is that it's used to decrease swelling of the fluids (injected?) during the procedure. My question is whether it helps reduce the amount of excess skin/tissue that remained once the fat was removed.

I need to wear the vest one more week for 24 hours then 12 hrs a day for 2 more. Would wearing it a little more often or wearing it while doing things like working outside in the yard help with the removal of the remaining tissue?

Thanks guys for the help.

The vest is to make the skin shrink not removed it. You are helping the skin skrink to cover up the holes or should I say fill in the holes of fat that were taken out. Wearing it longer will not help at least that is what the many plastic surgeons told me when I went in fo rmy consult. I can't see how it could hurt anything if you did wear it longer. If I got it done I'd wear it longer.

Please make sure you do wear it for at least as long as the Dr told you to. My friend did not and is now scarred for life. She has deep grooves in her body were the fat was taken out. It's to late for her skin to go back.

Thanks Squeaky. I'm also wondering if much is to be gained from wearing it a little more tighter than when I left surgery. I'm not talking excessive, but I am able to make it more tighter and, again if there is a benefit, would go ahead and do so.

Thanks again for the quick response.
