I don't know what is wrong with me and two different general practitioners and a gastroenterologist can't tell me what is wrong.
My gastroenterologist gives me Prevacid which does nothing and I go through bottles of Gaviscon and Mylanta which also does nothing.
I have an extreme burning in my upper stomach and around my belly button area. It is worse after I eat or drink anything. Even water makes the burning worse.
It never comes up in my esophagus as acid reflux. I get extremely nauseated sometimes to the point of throwing up but never do.
I am constantly burping. The burning is worse when I sit with my knees pulled up to my chest. I sit like this sometimes in my computer chair. It is comfortable for me with my feel up in the chair and my knees up to my chest but I can't sit like this for long because it makes the burning intense.
The only really thing that helps me is hot tea. The heat from the tea soothes my stomach.
The Prevacid that I have is the dissolvable and it just burns my esophagus on the way down and then makes my esophagus feel tight and full but does nothing to relieve the burning in my stomach.
I had a hida scan which revealed my gallbladder was slow in filling up and the ultrasound of my gallbladder, the gallbladder couln't even be seen. It had contracted up underneath my liver.
I also had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which only revealed mild colitis, I think it has gotten worse. Its been a long time, over a year since I've had these tests, I have asked for another but the gastro doc says he sees no reason. He says I don't have acid reflux, no evidence of acid in my esophagus but he can't explain the burning in my stomach.
I do get mild to moderate pain just below my ribs on my right side that come and go but I don't get them that often. Maybe once or twice a week I'll have a pain for a few minutes.
Can anyone help me? Any advice is very much appreciated.

I have been having stomach issues for a few weeks.. bloating, chest discomfort, pain in my upper ab, not severe just constant, shortness of breath. I had an ab ultrasound and it showed nothing so they sent me in for a HIDA scan last week and it showed my gallbladder is not functioning at the right percentage... so I am having my gall bladder out.. with high hopes it will ease all of my symptoms!!! :)
Good luck.

My symptoms are ongoing for about 3 years now with no answers.
I am scared to eat because it just makes it worse. I am trying not to lose any more weight because I have lost so much already. When this first started I lost about 70 pounds in like 3 months.
I am 5'10 and weigh about 130 now. When this first started I was overweight at about 245.
I can't get any answers from doctors. I don't have insurance right now so I can't go back and get other doctors opinions or more testing right now.
I've had bloodwork for every imaginable disease. My gastroenterologist even went as far as to accuse me of being anorexic and telling me I'm doing this to myself! After I begged him to find out what was wrong with him and told him how badly I want to be normal and eat again... I told him I wanted to GAIN weight NOT lose weight! I will never go back to that doctor again.
Milk and dairy products used to help my stomach now it just makes it worse.
I have been drinking these new yougurt drinks for digestive health you can get at the grocery store called DanActive and eating Activia yogurt so hopefully it will bring me some relief. Until I get an answer I am basically living off of soft foods and lots of nutritional supplement drinks trying to gain some of my weight back or at least maintain weight so I don't lose anymore.

Hi JuJubee7. Like you, I have been experiencing bloating, pain in my upper abdomen that has been constant but not severe, and a bit of chest discomfort. This has primarily been for the last week. Prior to that, my biggest issue was not being able to eat much without getting insanely full (for about two months).
It was three months ago, however, that everything started with intense stomach pain in the upper ab and would come and go every few days (but subside after a few hours). I had an ultrasound that showed what they *thought* were stones. Yesterday, I had a HIDA scan. As weird as it sounds, I hope it shows that my gallbladder is underperforming, because I don't know what else the problems could be at this point. I am just hoping that I can get it out and be done with all of these problems! Like you, I have high hopes that removing it will take care of the problems!

Hi, I am new to the boards, but wanted to say that my symptoms are similar but different also. Mine was a dull ache at waist level and a little lower. Occasionally I would feel twinges up high. I too lost weight (I was 116 and lost to 103 at my lowest.) I wasn't throwing up just felt full, weak, tired, and achy at waist level. It started in mid March. They did find I was full of stones and still wasn't sure it was the gallbladder because the symptoms were so vague. The Hida scan came back at 82%. So he ordered a colonoscopy and endoscopy. Normal. Cat Scans were ordered and they came back normal except for the gallstones.
I am scheduled for surgery Monday, May 21. I hope this fixes the aches and pain.
Hope you find your answers soon and good luck to you

Hamilton,
Have you ever had an H.plorii antibody blood test. If not, you NEED one becasue it sounds like you have an ulcer.

I've never had an h. pylori test as far as I know. I've had every other blood test imaginable though I think.
I've been tested for celiacs, endoscopy and colonoscopy, cat scan but I had an allergic reaction to the drink so I couln't finish the test, an ultrasound couldn't see my gallbladder so my gastro doctor thought either I didn't have one or it was contracted up underneath another organ like my liver (this didn't sound normal at all) and then a hida scan that showed I do have a gallbladder and it wasn't filling up very quickly but I didn't have the CCK part because the first part of the hida scan with the radioactive dye made me very sick and I got this feeling in my throat like I was going to choke again so I didn't go thru with the second part of it.
Now I have constant burning in my stomach, sometimes it comes up to about the middle of my chest and I have mild pain and burning in the middle of my chest along with trouble swallowing and the constant feeling like I need to burp but can't.
Like today I've taken one prevacid dissolvable 30mg and also drank a couple of tablespoons each of mylanta and gaviscon and its barely touched the burning. I don't know what to do. I have no insurance and can't afford to go see another gastroenterologist right now.
I can make a payment plan with my regular physician but he'll just refer me to another gastroenterologist that I can't afford.
I'm scared by now that I have done real damage over the last 3 years of suffering and I'm scared of what they'll find when I have another endoscopy.
I am so scared that it will be so inflamed and swollen and just really really bad. I am especially scared of Barretts. My doctor told me before he didn't believe I had GERD because the burning was in my stomach and rarely came up to my chest, that GERD sufferers feel it up in their esophagus. When I stil had insurance I begged the gastroenterologist to do another endoscopy and have another look and to stretch my esophagus but he said he didn't see any reason to.
What do I do now? I am so scared. I'm sorry to leave such a long post but I really need advice from someone who knows how I'm feeling here.

When you have the CCK part of the hida scan what happens? How long does it take, and how soon do you get the results back if your gallbladder is malfunctioning or not?
If my gallbladder couldn't be seen on ultrasound but could be seen on a hida scan and was filling up too slowly is that indication that it isn't working correctly?
Would I have this intense burning in my stomach and sometimes chest maybe from bile reflux?

Have all the symptoms others have mentioned in related threads. Upper ab pain on the right under the ribs, acid reflux burning, nausea caused whenever I eat. Have been diagnosed w/ underperforming Gallbladder, but I can't get in to see a surgeon to consult for at least a week....
Anybody have any suggestions on what I can try to eat that won't cause all the discomfort?

Hamilton,
I have gallstones and have the same symptoms...because gallbladder pain can be reffered (felt elsewhere) you can feel pain where your gall bladder is (under your rib cage to the right), pain in the chest (where I feel mine...feels like a heat attack...squeezing in my chest), pain in the back, shoulder, etc. I have a co-worker who had an under functioning gall bladder and when they removed it they could see that it was dieased. They could not tell this on the Ultrasound she had. If you know your gall bladder is under functioning I wonder if the doctor's will remove it anyways.....or see if they can do a gastroscopy (not sure if they will tell them anything different though). Will good luck....and my surgery/gastroscopy is scheduled for July 17th so I am happy I will be pain free after the recovery. Good luck.
