just got my labs back from the doc, have reached nondetectable with t-cells up above 500 after taking atripla for the last 4 months. feel great, and always look great!! ;) though i have a question for anyone in the know, the test results are reading "less than 50" now instead of saying nondetectable, though i assume it's synonomous since the tests do not measure below 50. anyone know why the change in semantics? thanks!!

Hey there,
I can't answer your question on the semantics, but my understanding of it is the same as yours - undetectable means under 50. Maybe it's just to make it clearer to patients.
Great news about your results though!
Stay healthy,

According to my consultant in Oxford the latest test they use here in the UK detects down to 40. So undetectable in UK would be less than 40. Sods law I am at 41 !!!

what it means is that the levels of hiv in your system would not be detected if you were tested for hiv, you would get a negative result even thou you are positive.
it also means the drugs are working very well for you!
good luck
