View Full Version : dumb question regarding upper chest above stomach

This is going to be a strange question, and I believe I have noticed this before in the past but I think with my recent upper discomfort I had thinking it was my gallbladder (which has improved now that my doctor put me on some high cholesterol meds...knock on wood) I suddenly notice that it seems like my left rib cage sits just a bit further out then my left rib cage. Now this doesn't have anything to do with the gallbladder because that is on the other side that seems normal now and it is the left side that I noticed sits a tad different then the right etc...kind of like muscle tissue or fat tissue etc

It is the left side though that seems like it sits out just a tad further and different then the right side. It is almost like there is a bit more fatty tissue there then the right side. I guess my question would be does anyone else notice them on themselves and could it just be different muscular and fatty tissues on the left side?

I guess I am wondering if we are symetrical. Like I say, I think I noticed this long before and just all of sudden noticed it when I was laying on the couch here. Im not going to sit here and worry about that by all means and was just wondering if the human body around the rib cage and below is symetricall for each the left and right or if there are variances. There isn't any pain either and just something I noticed causing it to get to my head if I have seen or noticed it before.

Both sides of our bodies are different. You only have to put a mirror upright with its edge down the middle of a photograph of a face. When you look into the mirror at the "other" side of the face, it could be a different person. Many things can make our bodies vary. In your case, maybe your stomach pushed on the ribs there as you were growing up and made a small permanent difference. Your heart is mostly on that side as well. I know both my sides are different. I notice it more than anyone else does.
