I went to the Dentist in November for a tooth that was bothering me. He said it was very deep and that I might need a root canal. He went ahead and filled it to see how long it would last. Well, I am having alot of pain so I went back and you guessed it, I need a root canal. He is sending me to a endo, but in the meantime prescribed me some medication for the pain. He prescribed me an antibiotic and tylonel with codeine for the pain. The problem is, I can't get into the endo until June 6 and after taking the pain medication it seems to be hurting worse. I can barely touch it and I can't bite down. I just started taking the meds yesterday, but it is MUCH more sensitive to that I don't think I can even eat. Does anybody have any answer to why this is happening? Do I need to give the meds more time? I don't think I can deal with this for the next month waiting to get into the endo. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Maybe I should call the dentist back.
Thanks so much,

Hi
Similar situation fro myself with dental thing. Think maybe it is the nerve socking it to you. When it flares for me, I am using tylenol and Advil and then putting some Ambesol all around the gum area. and teeth (two) that are bad. Also on an antibiotic.
I am leaving for the healthfood store in a short while to get Oil of Clove for dental pain. It numbs the area and has antibacterial properties also. I think it will be about six dollars or so for a one ounce bottle.
I am also sticking to room temperature food for now. Tapioca, soups, banaas, stuff like that.
Sorry... dental pain sure can be shocking to our mouths.
best wishes

Reachout,
Thanks for the reply. Are you also having a root canal? I am sorry you are in the pain I am in, however it helps to know you are not alone. I am also sticking to room temp foods. Hopefully relief will come soon.

Hi
The root canal is one thing that may be attempted on one of the teeth. I am having one pulled and a bridge or implant has to be done. You know what? I fear the root canal most of all. Blah.
Hubby is out getting the Oil of Cloves for me right now. Hopefully, the Health food store carries it! Oh, and I firgot to tell you.. I am also doing warm water salt rinses a few times a day.
The dentist insists I have deep scale cleaning done before we work on the issues of these two particular teeth. Sigh... I just want it all over. Love my dentist on a personal level, but REALLY dislike going to the dentist in general. Bet that sounds familiar, huh?
