alright, so a few days ago i noticed an area of my gums and tooth(my canine) felt sore when pressed on. upon further investigation i noticed my gum had receded a bit. all that's showing is the tooth, nothing else like the nerve. at first i thought my gums were cut so i applied hyrdogen peroxide and that made the soreness go away. is this receding gumlines??? if it is, what actions should i take and how can i prevent it from happening to my other teeth?! thanks for your help! :blob_fire

Hi, make sure you are using an extra soft bristle brush and hold it under hot running water before brushing. Brush the correct way, holding brush at 45* to gumline. Invest in a Waterpic and put a good non-alcohol type rinse for gums in it along with warm water and do this before gong to bed. Make sure you are not "strong arming" your gums, let the dental floss get the tartar off, not your scrubbing. There is a pretty nifty natural recycled handle toothbrush I got at the health food store with natural bristles that are so super soft, and the handle flexes with your pressure so you aren't damaging your gums. Also, if you are clenching your teeth or grinding at night your gums will recede slowly but surely, you can get a nightguard for either top or bottom relatively cheaply. Good luck!
