i dont know if you can get them in the us but since having my son the only bottles i use are called steriliser bottles, basically you put water into the lid and put the bottle in the microwave upside down and put it on for a min and a half and that sterlises it without the need for anythinng else i think theyre fab and they will be the only ones i use if we ever have anymore children :)

I first used the playtex nurser bottles and liked them. I used them for about 3months. I found they were hard to use once DS started drinking more than 4 oz. of formula though. The bigger Playtex bottles were just too big and bulky.

I now use Avent, but they do leak if you don't screw the lid on just right, which can be a pain. However, I like the size of the bottle now that DS drinks 6 oz. of formula. It also works well when it comes to the bubbles (lack of bubbles and air).

I also use the Avent bottles. I have tried just about all of them and seem to like them the best. I hear Dr. Browns are good, but there was just too many parts for me too worry about with them. When I started having my kids hold their own bottle, I found that the cheap Parents Choice bottles from Walmart work best. Use the 4 oz ones. They are small enough for their little hands. Both my kids could hold them very easily on their own until they could handle the bigger Avent ones.

I use Dr. Browns and love them! I've tried a few other brands and the difference is amazing! You can tell that baby isn't getting all that air in her tummy because of the way the Dr. Browns are designed.

They take a few more minutes to clean, but they are well worth it.

We also use mylicon drops in her bottles every day to help cut down on the gas. I think that's been a big help, too! Buy the generic ones ($3.50 vs. $12.00) since they work just the same. Plus, I keep threatening hubby that I'm going to slip some in his drink at dinner... ha!!! Keeps him on his toes... and his stinkiness confined to the bathroom or outside. :)

I nursed my DD for 6 months and then couldn't anymore (I dried up!) but the bottles I switched to were Playtex with the drop in liners. They are wonderful for before they can hold them. My daughter was lazy and refused to hold her own bottle until 13 months!! Then I switched to Parents Choice cheap basic bottles. She was fine and used them until I took her off the bottle completely at 20 months (I know, I know...LOL). I have also heard that Dr. Browns and Avent are good choices too. Good luck!:)

I bought a ton of Avent bottles for DS and he hated them. He only took the cheap Gerber bottles with the standard nipple. He was a preemie, and couldn't BF, so he would only take what they gave him in the NICU.

If you're planning on breastfeeding and need bottles too, then I'd try the BreastFlow bottles. I've used them with my baby since she was two weeks old and have never had any nipple confusion or anything. She has to work to get the milk out just like when she's breastfeeding. I have nothing bad to say about these bottles at all. They are great!

I breastfed and also bottle fed. The only ones I used were the platex nursers with the latex nipple that was flat. I used this becuase the that nipple was hard to suck and that was what we wanted since we didnt want an easy one and screwing up the breastfeeding. As he got older we switched to the same nipple just different flow and when he was about 6months and was giving cereal we just cut the tiny hole a little bigger(we went through a few before getting the cut rightLOL). I use the bags because my kids tend to have gas and colic so I stick with the generic bags and make sure there is no air in them. My 9month old holds the big bottles by herself NOW and she does fine with it. She loves the little cheap ones as well but she is old enough now that I dont have to worry about her burping. I sit her up and she burps up a storm and yes i still burp her as well.

Just what ever you do make sure any nipple you use is a slow flow for newborns. The reason I say this is because our 3rd was so colicy and choked a lot and we found out that she was getting too much at a time. I realized this when I tipped over the bottle(the bottles they give you at the hospital) and it poured out so fast. I was so upset. So we switched back to the platex ones.(thought i could get away with using what they gave me first, never again i swear! LOL)

We do have nipples that also allow us to put some cereal and fruit or veggies in it. yes yes i know but there are times that they just wont sit still for it and the bottle is the only thing they want.

We used the platex bottle with disposable liners. These worked well for my son and allowed up to get out most of the air easily and cut back on that gas factor.

I mainly breastfed but whenever we used bottles, we used the Avent system. They fit well with my hand breast pump. I also babysit and have found through experience that the Playtex nursers (with liners) are nice and the cheaper Gerber bottles work well too. I hated the Vent-aire system by Playtex. They are supposed to be good for gas but they have too many parts to clean and didn't always seal well. I would go to feed the baby and the formula would come pouring out the bottom.
