I got tested quite a few months ago for a number of stds and it all came back negative. The doctor told me when she checked me out that my cervix was inflamed, and so thought I had chlamydia (which I didn't, according to tests). She gave me antibiotic(s) for it and sent me on my way after mentioning the possibility of me having cervical cancer. I have an appointment with a gyno soon, but I was just wondering what else could be the cause of that...?
From everything I've read about it, I'm nervous about what it could mean. Is it possible it doesn't mean anything???

Hello blue_spiral,
I just wanted to let you know that my first biopsy after my colposcopy showed that I had cervicitis (after I had two abnormal ASCUS paps in a row). The year after that I still had abnormal paps and my second biopsy also came back benign, although I also tested positive for high-risk HPV. I'm not a doctor nor do I know exactly what caused my cervicitis (which is just inflammation of the cervix), but I do know that it is nothing to be too concerned about for the time being (basing it on my own experience with cervicitis). Just be sure to ask your doctor all your questions! But remember not to worry -- it'll clear up and I'm sure you're fine! Hope this helps. :)

Thanks for your reply!
That makes me feel better, and I'll be sure to discuss everything in detail with my doctor.

i'm going through teh very same...
i had all the std tests done in juen last year, along with my partner - nothing to do with a dody smear, but because my ex husband ofa few years ago had decide dto play a nasty stunt and claim to eb hiv positive, so whilst going through the tests for that we decided to both get a full screening.
we both got the all clear on everything, including chlamadia.
then in sep i went fro my routine three yearly smear.
two months later i was calle dto teh hopspital for a coloscopya s they'd spotted minor abnormalities. whilst there they also took a small biopsy, as the vinger had made my damage cells go white.
i hated the whole thing, cried all teh way through,a nd grippe dmy partners hand tight.
two weeks later i was so relived to get a letter back saying teh biopsy had found nothing.
yesterday i went for my six mnonthly smear test at the geonogology cdlinic that i'm now under. whilst there they did a second coloscopy,a nd said i still had damaged cells :-( however they didnt take a biopsy this time, tehy said theyw ill see what the smear results bring back, and if it isnt clear (not sure how it can be if they can see damaged cells?) then they will need to bring me back again in six months time, and if it isnt clearing then (this will be 12 months since my biopsies) they will need to look at treatment - she said about freezing it witha lazor?
i just dont understand how if nothings wrong i can still have abnormal cells?
you aint alone tho going thjrough this, from what i've read here o realise its far more common than i initially thought.
