Okay, visited my doctor today...told him I've been choking on/off for two and-a-half years now, and he recommended I go for the esophago-gramm - forgive the spelling.
He told me that this really won't be a life-long problem. I expressed my concern to him about being a slow eater, and having the feeling of unchewed food being pushed down by my tongue, and he didn't mention anything about dysplagia.
Has anyone had this test done? Also, I tend to gag easily so will this stuff i have to drink be horrible? Will I have a problem?
He also told me to see a speech pathologist as well. He basically left me to believe that my mouth muslces have weakened, for whatever reason, and this is why I'm having problems.
My mother, on the other had, still insists that it is all psychological, as the numerous times that I've choked have scared me.
I think that being that this whole problem occurred suddenly two years ago, that it is more of a trauma than anything else. Would you think a speech pathologist would really be my only hope here?
