This past March I went in for my yearly Pap and it came back positive for HPV.
So weeks later I get a colposcopy and I have three areas of mild deysplasia, they all came back pre-cancerous.

I'm now going in for Chryosurgery in a couple weeks and I'm kind of worried.

Is it painful? Or is it just discomforting?

I've heard many stories that this sort of thing just doesn't go away and I'll continue to have bad Paps a procedures. Is this always true?

Guess I'm just a big worr wart. Heh

i have had cryosurgery and the pain depends on how long they do it. they are freezing the cervix to kill cells so it would feel like putting ice on your skin. Sometimes it has not hurt at all. Hope this helps. God bless

actually the cervix has no nerve endings so it doesn't feel pain at all. If it did they would have to put you to sleep to do it. The stuff they use is so cold, its like 236 below zero (or something like that) I didn't feel a thing. I just remember that nasty smell for several week afterwards.

I had this procedure in the 90s.. had the same thing displasyia. It wasnt bad, I was young & scared too. Altho afterwards it was like the big thaw.. like an ice cube melting. I had wet underwear at times.. it was weird.. had to wear a pad. But thank God for modern technology. Pap tests ARE important, uterine cancer IS the silent killer. My grandmother died from it.. No pap tests I suppose back then or she didnt have done.. (very rural counrty folk) Dont worry, its not bad at all & you will be fine
