Hi ladies:wave:
How is everyone doing? My husband and I had a consultation with our specialist last Tuesday ~ originally we had decided to skip every other treatment and begin IVF but after taking to the specialist he recommended that we FSH injections first so that if IVF is necessary he will know exactly how much medication to give me and how well I respond to them. Well, everything is set to go once AF arrives this month ... on my 21st day of my next cycle I am going to be taught where to give the injections but I want to get ahead of myself and ask anyone out there doing the same where does one give the injections for the various medication given and do they hurt? Please be honest. I already know the ovidrel shot does not hurt because I have had three of those in the past with my previous IUIs.
Also, how many of you have been succussful with this particular treatment and how long did it take you to get pregnant. Also your information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! Good-Bye:wave:

Hi Cris,

This is my first month using any kind of stimulating meds in the form of injections. Let me tell you, I was extremely nervous!! It really isn't that bad though. I do the injections myself, and I think the hardest part is the mental part - getting over the thought of jabbing yourself with a needle. Once you get past that, it's smooth sailing. This is my first IVF cycle, and I am using lupron, follistim, and menopur. The drugs can sting a little as they are being injected, but if you depress the plunger slowly so the drug is administered slowly, it really helps. And the sting is nothing to worry about, it is really faint. Now there are worse shots out there that have to be injected into the muscle, but I'm lucky enough not to be doing those, so I really can't offer you any advice on those. My best advice to you would be to try not to worry about it too much. Take it one day at a time so it's less overwhelming, and remember you are not alone. Countless women before you have gone through the same thing and been okay. That's what got me through the first couple of injections - knowing that other women out there handled it, so I knew I could. And we will be here cheering you on the whole time. :)

Good luck!

Holly

Hi Cris,

I could not put it any better than Holly did. I am on the same tx regimin as her exactly on the same injectibles. I have done injectibles for 8 cycles and now will be doing them with IVF. Don't be discouraged that I have not had success b/c each person is different and has different problems so in your case it may be all you need to get a BFP. Like Holly said try not to worry too much and take it one day and one baby step at a time. The injections really don't hurt me either just sting a bit sometimes but not much else.

Good luck to you!!

Kathy
