I am a 34 year old female. I have been having some shortness of breath with minimal exertion, along with pain when breathing, low-grade fever, and fatigue for the past 3 months or so. I had a CT Scan of lungs in January to rule out anything serious with the lungs as well as blood clots. I have been in the hospital twice and had all the heart tests (except a cath) including a nuclear stress test. All have come back fine. I have had tests to check for inflammation such as CRP, hs-CRP and sed rate and all have been very low. However, I feel like my lungs are inflamed. Does anyone have any ideas? I did have a pulmonary function test back in September (I scored above average) because of some minor shortness of breath but in January it got much worse. I'm at a loss but I know something is wrong and I'm scared and miserable. Oh, d-dimer test was negative as well for blood clots.

Thanks for any insight!

Hey Laura,

It definitely is scarey to have shortness of breath. Take a peek at the posts under "what do you know about histoplasmosis" It MIGHT answer some of your questions.

Warmest regards,
Linda

Thanks Linda. Wouldn't a fungal infection like that show up on a CT scan though? I live in the South but this all started a month or so after I visited Texas and was around a bunch of bat droppings so I have thought it could be related to that. However, I'm not so sure now since x-ray and CT Scan were clear.
