Hi

Just wanted a little advice on whether i should mix my post training shake with milk or water??? Currently i am mixing it with milk and taking it 3x a day with breakfast, pre training and post training..... i train late (around 9pm - 10pm) so after training i have my shake in milk and go to bed, i read somewhere this the best thing to do as your body is not getting any protein all night, and the caesin in milk will release the protein slower.

I have since read that i should be mixing it with water post training to get it into the system quickly...... so which should i do???

Don't know that it matters a whole lot. If you mix protein with water it will absorb fastest. I don't know about milk but I imagine slightly slower absorbtion with milk than with water but then you get added protein in the milk along with added calories so for post workout I'd mix with milk. Other times water is fine. If you want slow absorbtion of the protein mix in a tablespoon of oil such as olive oil or maybe flax seed oil although I don't know what amount of flax seed oil you'd want to use.

If you're using skimmed milk, it won't make much difference apart for giving you a bit more protein (which will be, like you said, slower absorbed milk protein). You want to avoid fat in your post w/o shake as that will slow absorbtion of the whey. Having some high GI carbs with the shake will also speed up absorbtion due to the insuline spike it'll give you eg dextrose / maltodextrose.
