About 7 years ago, I had a LEEP. I now have a 10 month old and another on the way. Today my OBGYN told me that I have CIN III and that next week we'll do a colposcopy (spelling?). I've read that laser is an option only after cancer has been ruled out. (cold cone biopsy--probably not an option). Anyone with any thoughts? I'm 44. Thanks.

First congrats on the baby and the upcoming one! Mine are fifteen months apart, it's a busy time the first couple years, then it gets so much easier!
Re: the CIN 3, from the management guidelines I've read, they will do the colpo to rule out any potential microinvasion or invasion. Then, if they are satisfied what they are seeing is pre-cancer, they are unlikely to do any form of treatment until after the baby is born. I have a friend who went through her entire pregnancy this way, and ended up having a cold knife cone after her baby was born (her first post partum pap came back clear, the next one three months later showed severe dysplasia again). If they are concerned there is a microinvasion or they cannot entirely rule it out, then they may look at doing a LEEP. While it's not common to do this during a pregnancy, it definately has been done before. Also, I do know of another lady (and I believe she posted on here over a year ago) who had Stage 1b2 while she was pregnant. She had chemo through her pregnancy and delivered early, baby was healthy, she went on to have the radical hysterectomy following the birth. Check out clinical practice guidelines, there are specific guidelines for women who are pregnant and dealing with cervical abnormalities. You can use this information to discuss with your doctor any treatment recommendations that are put forward. I hope this helps.

Hello Karen,
Thanks for the support and the reply. Somehow I know that this CIN 3 will hold back until December, when the baby is born. I am so blessed that I stumbled onto this board last night.
Thanks--Peanuts62
