i was dx w/hcv in 2002, completed 6 mo tx in 2005. i never went back to my gastro doc to see if i cleared. so...last week,i went to my regular doc and told her about it and she ordered blood tests( hepatitis panel:hep a,b,and c.) I just got my results and i tested positive for hep b and c. I was vaccinated 4 yrs ago for hep b, so would'nt i automatically have antibodies for that and hep c, since I was treated for it? i was tested for hep b,c antibodies. i just feel like she should have ordered a viral load test instead. anyone out there know if i will always have hep c antibodies even if i am treated successfully?

Sometime Hep B Vacc doesn't work. I had hep vaccine, but don't have antibody, i may need to find another brand.

I know a doctor had hep b vaccine 3 times from different drug company before it took effect.

what i have found is most regular doctors are idiots when it comes to hep testing. You have to tell them and insist that they do a viral load and not a anti body test because from what I understand you will always be positive with antibodies which is the same for vaccinations.

Yes, Jessy is right. HCV antibodies you have for ever - even if succesfully treated.
