Can you take both at the same time? I've been suffering since Monday afternoon, with the burning in the chest, belching, sour taste, and it seems like my anxiety is making it worse!!!! The OTC Zantec works faster than the Nexium, but I'm not sure if taking both is ok. Anyone feel fatigued all the time from heartburn? Any advice you share would be great. Right now I'm scared to eat anything, I feel the gurgling in my stomach, and then out or up comes the gas. I'm desperate to get rid of this!!!!:blob_fire

I am not 100% positive but I think you can take both OTC Zantac and the Nexium. I believe I have heard on either this board or another about people who take both. The zantac taken at night b4 bed. I am fairly new to reflux so dont know a ton yet but my GI dr even said at last visit if I dont feel fully better (while on 40 mg protonix)he would prescribe Zantac to take at night. I had told him I have heard of others taking both so he toldme this but said he would give an RX as stronger then the OTC. Tho I was thinking I may just buy some zantac myself to take at nite as I was waking up with trouble in the mornings recently. Instead I bought some Gaviscon (which Dr had already said I could take too) and started taking it before bed. And luckily I did feel much better the next day after taking it. I take my protonix in morning on empty stomache b4 eating.

I have taken tums, maalox pills but trying the Gaviscon as it seems to be different then those pills. They are more for when feel the nauseau or have the heartburn and take to relieve the symptons but the gaviscon says it has a foam barrier to keep the acid down and can take with meals or at bedtime. So that is what I am doing and so far so good. I dont want to necessarily take more RX meds so if the gaviscon works I will do it only. Good luck to you! Try some over the counter stuff like I said and see if that helps somewhat. also call your Dr and ask what they think.
