Has anybody experienced any side effects from Ativan?

I have been on Ativan steady for 3 years for Panic Attack Prevention and the only side effects I had was sleepy in the beginning of therapy and you cannot just stop them after a few months the withdrawal symptoms are rough..you have to taper off

Thanks. I take Ativan as needed for anxiety. I heard you shouldn't drink with Ativan, is that true? Just wondering because I heard the same thing about Prozac, but I've had a small drink now and then while on Prozac and I've been fine.

Hi, I will give you a little friendly advice. Im sure on your prescription bottle or the info paper they gave you with your script will tell you not to mix alcohol with any benzodiazepam. I have done it with a different type of benzo and on a larger scale, but the results were horrifying. I did not remember what I did, however once I regained myself I was embarresed as well as scared to death. I mixed xanax with liquor one night and wound up pulling a gun on the preacher of my church.....and all this while my two little daughters watched (as I was told). That was many years ago but I have never made that mistake again. Please don't mix the two PLEASE!!!!!!
