I've been thinking I may by hypoglycemic so I bought a glucose meter this weekend (Relion from Walmart). I've only tested for one day so far, but it was 99 when I first woke up, and then dropped to 72 only 30 minutes later, and I still hadn't eaten yet. Do you think this is accurate or do I need to keep testing for several days? My hands were clean both times and the meter is brand new as well as the strips.

You need to keep testing but remember that meters generally have an accuracy range of 20% so if your blood sugar was around 85 then you would have a range of 68-102 which would explain your results. You could go to a doctor and get an A1c test done, that will give you an average of what your blood sugars were over the last 3 months. They can also get your blood tested with a much more accurate glucose test.

When you go to the lab, take the meter with you and test at the same time. Then you'll know exactly how accurate your machine is.
Also, the a1c is accurate for about three months, but most accurate for the last 6 weeks.
