How are your 5-6month olds doing? How big are they? Tall? Weight? What are they eating? How are they sleeping? Motor skills? crawling yet... sitting up well? Saying any words at all?

Lorelei will be 6 months on 5/21.

She has been able to roll back-to-front (only on the left, though) for about a month now, but just started rolling front-to-back last week. She's been creeping a little, too (mostly in a circle, but occassionally making it 1-2 feet away in about 5 minutes).

She hasn't been for her 6 month checkup yet, but by my home scale she's 16-16.5 lbs and is 26" per the Infantino Surfer Mat (LOL!).

She's been eating solids for about 2 months now and has recently been playing with her tongue thrust so much that more food is coming out than is going in. I'm guessing this is just a stage as she learns about all of her parts and what they do, but I'll be glad when I'm throwing out less food after meal times (I make about 2-3 Tbls. of cereal and half a jar of fruit or veggie twice a day). Previously she was eating solids like a champ. I've also started her on zwieback toast for teething. And, she just loves the Gerber puffs (banana and sweet potato) and has started reaching for them and trying to get them in her mouth. I tried the Nuk brand sippy cups but she likes the one instead that has a little silicone straw instead (I don't remember the brand). She's still drinking 30 oz. a day, so the solids are just for fun and socialization.

She goes to bed at 5 pm like a champ -- no major issues. That's just when she's tired. Several people have told us to "keep her up longer" but my response to them is "well, then YOU come to our house and console a wailing infant while you keep her awake for a few extra hours each night!" Usually shuts 'em up. She sleeps until 5-6 am, which is when we get up anyway, so it's no big deal. She wakes 1-3 times per night to play (a light sleeper) but goes back to sleep on her own. If we don't want to listen to her on the monitor I get up and put her paci back in and she usually goes right back to sleep. Naps -- several short ones in the morning and then one longer one during the afternoon (1-2 hours).

Interestingly enough, my local early learning coalition has a program where they send a questionnaire every 2 months to check on language, socialization, fine and gross motor skills, etc. For the 4 month one I filled it out at 3.5 months of age and she scored really high, even though she wasn't 4 months yet. This time, I marked the ones that she can do already, but didn't mark the rest yet -- I'll recheck her as she gets to 6 months next week. Seems like she's right on target with everything (pretty much) though. No concerns here...

And you???

My dd will be 6 months tomorrow. She has been rolling from back to front since around 4 months but won't roll onto her back very often. She has just started to eat some solids on a regular basis, but it's really hard to want to give it to her when she just throws it all back up anyway. I'm guessing she is around 17 lbs and I'm not sure about length. She has been a great sleeper since around 6 weeks. Goes to bed at 7:30-8:00 and gets up at 5:30. She loves to play with her toys and cuddle with her dolly. Of course everything is straight to the mouth...especially with her top teeth coming in.

Oh boy, I have been noticing some big changes lately. My DS was 6 months on 5/7.

First, DS has been rolling for about 2 months now - front to back and back to front.

He has been pushing up on his arms in a crawling position, but he puts it in reverse and not "drive." HA! HA! Just yesterday, he got up on his knees and pushed forward once. He did it again today, and is spending more time on his knees and up on his arms. I assume crawling is right around the corner.

DS eats about 26-30 oz. a day. He gets cereal and fruit in the a.m. and p.m., with some veggies at noon. By the way - anyone having problems with green veggies? DS gags on them!

He is 27.5 inches and 19 lbs. Big boy.

He sits up on his own pretty well. Well enough that we were able to get pictures taken of him doing so.

He babbles a ton and is also doing raspberries. Pair that with teething, and he is a slobbering mess on some days!

He is also getting bored more easily and needs constant change. He loves going outside.

DS goes to bed at 8 p.m. - wakes at 3 a.m. for a feeding, and goes back to bed until 6:30 or 7 a.m. NOt too bad, but not the greatest. I will take it b/c it's a big improvement from where we were a month ago.

did all of your babies recognize name at age 6 months and did they all blow raspberries?

DS is now 6months, i think he knows his name... sometimes haha. Just now for example... he's trying to crawl over a pillow and i called his name and he didn't even flinch haha. but other times he'll look right over. He doesn't blow rasberries, but he'll blow bubbles and make wierd horse noises haha.

He's been sitting up on his own for a month now, and has nooo interest in crawling haha. He gets very frustrated with laying on his belly. He has in the last two weeks managed to get on all fours and rock a bit. He actually seems to walk better then he does crawl. Mind you.. he has zero ability to stand alone right now, but if I take his hands he can walk fine.

I took him for his 4month needles when he was 5months.. he was in the 90th percentile for his length, but only th 40th or 50th for his weight. He was a little skinny. So Ive been trying to fatten him up a bit haha. Well.. he's gained.. 3 almost 4 pounds this month haha. So he's got some meat on his bones now.

He says mamma, but Im not sure he knows what it means. Then again.. he does only say it when he's looking for something.. so maybe. i've heard him say other things too, like dada.. nana, baba... buts its rare. Mostly just Mama.

He has two teeth ! He got them about a month ago. No sign of more yet.

So i suppose he's doing well ! Eating lots of fruits and veggies :P Loves to eat !

Thanks for posting Almac:)

Nice to be able to hear what other 6 month olds are doing. My dd is trying to crawl but not quite there yet. She sits on all fours and rocks but then can't quite figure out how to scoot closer to the toy she wants. She sits up on her own very well and will sit herself up from her tummy all the time. She's eating solids pretty well but lately she's been really fussy..not sure why..could be teething. she doesn't have any yet. She doesn't say anything other than the high pitch squeals she's been doing. we're waiting for her to say SOMETHING! When was mama first heard by yours? I get nervous when i hear some babies doing things she's not. I know it all comes at their own pace, but hey, I'm a worrier and a first time mom:)

Take care and give the little one hugs from me:)

My DD is about 5 1/2 months old and started blowing raspberries last week. It's pretty funny. She's also teething and drooling a lot.
She rolls from her tummy to her back and back to tummy (but only on her left side). She can't push up while on her tummy yet, but lifts up to straight arms.
She is a morning talker and babbles on and on and on...
A big girl at 5 months, she was a bit over 25 inches and a whopping 18 pounds!
She's just started rice cereal in the morning this week and takes it like a champ.
