I'll take any advice anyone is willing to give on how to handle waiting for a transplant. In 5 days I will have been on tranplant list for 7 months-it just keeps getting harder!!!! I'm starting to have aniexty attacks and feel restless. Everyone says try to keep my mind busy and think of other things. Are they kidding?!?!?! How do I do that???? I'm depending on my faith but even that is starting to waiver I just feel lost.scared alone, and really crappy!!!! It's nice just to vent , thanks for being here!

Hi Holly,
It my help to keep your mind busy by researching heart transplants, heart disorder information, discussions, etc. With a better understanding, you will relieve some of the anxiety. It is difficult to think of other things until you are comfortable with your condition and that would come with a better understanding of the procedure and the successful results.

I do a lot of volunteering with children's charity groups and can tell you that I've seen more success stories than you can imagine! =) Hang in there. This can be such a worrisome time but it will all work out. I'll keep you in my prayers!

holly,
I hope you get a suitable donor soon...I know the waiting must be horrific.
Look into the ins and outs of the temporary ventricular assist devices in case the wait is long. Best to be armed with foreknowledge.
Fingers cressed for you!

Holly, please try to be patient and hang in there. I had my heart transplant on Nov. 20. Like you, I was agonizing but it was well worth the wait. Have faith in your doctors and lean on them as well as your family and friends for support. My prayers are with you. - Fran
