my friend has this, and she asked me to search online for her, But I can’t find anything. I know she has had it for 30 years, and suddenly when she eats carrots, she gets liver pain. So she jsut stoped eating them, but she needs to get healthy, since she is gaining weight in her stomach, she also quit drinking all pop, but still drinks coffee. Can anyone please help me with a list of good foods/bad foods? I know you can’t post web Urls here, but if you came across anything in the past on this board, you can link that, or just write out a list of important food changes for hep c. I just can’t find anything. any help is great

I would recommend seeing a Nutritionist or purchasing a book on Nutrition which includes diets for Hepatitis or contacting the Hepatitis C Foundation in Pennsylvania. Do Insurance Plans in Canada include Nutritionist?

Have your local book store order you the book, "The Bible Cure for Hepatitis C", written by Don Colbert, MD.

Make sure your friend tries to stay away from salt and fried food or processed food.Coffee will make you retain water also.Unless you drink decafe. Also anything spicy.

Thanks April, that is a start, since the liver filters everything I think upsetting it would not be good. They say every such and such years our body slowly replaces our organs, so it’s like having a new organ, is there anything that helps encourage healthy regeneration of the liver? Any regenerative foods, is Q10 good? Since the liver is a sponge what can clear it? I would think exercise would be the best way of clearing out the liver. But since she has had Hep C for 30 years, maybe she is getting older and her liver will be more sensitive than others her age.

I'm curious too about the food issue. How old is your friend? I soon will be 67 yrs old and have had Hep C about 18 yrs without knowing. I found out in 2004 but could not afford the medicine (even with insurance). I never started treatment, yet I did find a source for the meds (thanks to a post) and will start my treatments the 25th. I should have started them a couple months ago but kept putting it off, scared about the side affects I suppose. I just don't know if my age will be a problem with my body accepting the meds. Otherwise, I am healthy. I will need to exercise and drink plenty of water but I just can't be sure the tx will help. Still, I will give it a go and see how my tests come out after 4 wks. I hope I haven't waited too long but I can only try and pray it will do some good.

Other Heppers have come through and I just hope I fair as well. I just keep reading the posts and try to get my courage up. I hope your friend fairs well and me too since we appear to be older then most of the Hep C posts I've read. I hope this time I will get up the sense to start my tx this time.

Good Luck, Joyce.

I don't know anything about hep c, but I think you will be ok, if you get treatment, just keep regular appts. with your GP. my friend is only 34, she got it when she was 4. she has always had it, and she seems way more healthy then me, and I don't have hep c. but she is very good at following the "rules"

Thanks for the quick response. I will give tx a try. I have to take care of me in order to be able to care for others. Did your friend ever get a liver biopsy to see if any damage was done to her liver? I'll keep posting once I start my tx and let everyone know how I'm doing.
