View Full Version : Possible Heart Issue?

I am a 28 year old, married, mother of 1. For the past few months I have not felt like myself. It began with an anxiety attack totally out of the blue (never had one before) back in Feb., and since then things have been "off". My symptoms have been occasional tightness/uncomfortable feeling in chest, light-headed spells several time a day, fatigue, and feeling faint at times. My doctor performed an EKG and a heart sonogram, but everything looked okay. He said the next step would be a heart holster monitor.

They are treating me for anxiety with Xanax as needed for attacks, but I am beginning to think that there is more to this than that since I don't feel at all anxious and have never had a history of anxiety.

Do these symptoms match any type of heart condition I could ask my dr about?

Thanks!

Hey UGAFan,

I started having anxiety attacks also last year in July and wondered if that had been the cause of my SVTs. I had every test except for a cardiac cath and all came up normal.
I don't know what stirred up my attacks, but according to my GP and Cardio, its not heeart related. I even switched from a high stress job, to a low stress office job before th attacks started.
I have been seeing a therapist and walking daily and it has helped considerably. I reccommend to anyone with heart fears to see a therapist, because they can help you to find your stressors and deal with them. Mine ended up being my mother and how she was still trying to control me at age 35! Now I can recognize when she starts down that path, and stop it so it doesn't bother me anymore.
My life has definately done an 180. Also, at the time of when the anxiety was the worst, I did take a break from birth control. I went back on the birth control and the hormonal changes have been a lot easier. Even thought I am over 35, I still take them because life is so much better when I am on them.

good luck,
lyl

By the way--I went to GaSou, but am a UGAFan also thanks to my boyfriend. GO DAWGS!

UGAfan,

Your symptoms point enough to the heart that I think it would be wise to have a NUCLEAR stress test.
A plain stress test with EKG and echo are not good enough.

If you don't feel anxious, don't take the Xanax.
