Hi all,

Recently, I went to see another GI and he saw my endoscopy biopsy report and mentioned too less pieses to be taken for biopsy. Two pieses from my antrum has been taken out. This GI mentioned that 8 pieses should be taken for biopsy.

BTW, how many pieses should be taken during the endoscopy exam?

Can you share?

Thank you.

Hi, It depends on symptoms: Minimum is four and maximum is 12. Samples are taken of normal tissue and any lesion/inflammation seen. Celiac/ Barrett's Oesophagus (Brit spelling here!) or even rarer cancer are all only definitively
confirmed by biopsy.
I am no expert - just learning more than I want to along the way! Hope this info helps.
