HELLO :) 1st time on board and grateful to find it !!
My dear DIL has recurring headaches starting at the temples and affecting back of head etc.. But what I think is unusual is that she wakes up with the pain in the midle of night. Is this a significant factor? she has sinus probs, but says this type is NOT like the usual sinus headache. Anyone with this symptom and what can it mean? Thxs so much

There are so many things that could be causing her headaches/pain. Tension headaches, migraines, and other neurological problems could be causig her night headaches. My suggestion is she make an appointment with her regular MD and tell her/him of her headaches. They should be able to help her with diagnosing the problem.
