Hello everyone,
I need advise on something...
My pain dr. always specifies a certain date to get my morphine filled
each month. This month it will be this coming monday. Now, my local CVS just started being open 24 hours. If I was to go after midnight sunday to fill it...Would they do it? and will a flag go up on me?
just wondering...I always seem to run out early...LOL

The second time was when a pharmacst called my secnd surgeon and said thet you shouldn't take Percocety and Ultram together, I flat out knew I was taking the Ultram to potentiate the percs, But as oon as the pharmacist questioned him, back down and said tear it up. My first experience with Ultram withdrawal.
CYA because the doc will cover his own.
Take care, Dave
You're not supposed to take percs and ultram together? The doc prescribed it and the pharmacist filled it with no problems....
So is this true? Or was pharmacist just being difficult?

Well it would look like to me that anything after 12:01 midnight is considered a new day, I don't see why not. Because technically it when be Monday then.

I would think you might catch the pharmacist's attention. I think I would try to wait until more normal business hours that morning. Why needlessly call attention to yourself?

I have a 24 hour pharmacy, and once when there was a mix up, my doctor had increased my meds but the insurance wouldnt let it go through until the exact date and I had been out for 3 days, so I went in at 12:00 am. The pharmacist was very nice and filled it for me right away, but she did tell me that some pharmacists will make you wait until 9 am.
If they make you wait until you are completely out of meds to pick up, and you are used to getting up at 6 am or so, I dont see why you couldnt pick it up at midnight to save yourself that early morning trek without your meds in your system, But I agree if you did it every month they would probably give you the stink eye, lol.

Yeah...I dont see it being a problem but like said you might raise a question with the PharmD. If you can go out that night then I am sure you can wait until 9am the next morning to get them. I would bring the question of you running out up with your doctor. I had the same problem with my percocet and my doctor understood and gave me more the next time. It was no problem for him to write a few extra. i am not sure about the morphine though as it is supposed to be taken at certian times because it is long acting most of the time. I am not sure what you take but if long acting you can ask your doctor if you can add a extra dose in the day to help eliminate your pain. That would save you from running out every month and provide better pain relief for you. Hope this helps!!

I wanted to fill a prescription one time with the same reason/situation you are talking about. I called the pharmacy I would use to do so and asked them if they would fill after midnight under those circumstances and they told me that they do not fill any narcotic type prescriptions like that at night. They only fill them in the morning when they are able to call and confirm they are valid etc.
I am sure they have a lot of people that ruin it for the rest of us by trying to pass off fakes after the offices are closed etc.
My only thought is that if you explain the situation and bring the script to the pharmacy in the daytime they may be able to call and confirm the validity of the script so when midnight rolls around they are comfortable with filling it.
This would require a call to your drs. office and I would consider if that is going to look bad to your doctor because obviously it makes it clear that you are probably in rough shape and needing the meds badly doing all of that to get the pharm to fill right at midnight....
I feel for you. I have been in that very spot. I ended up just roughing it out through the night and got there bright and early in the am!!!

I know this is not TOTALLY the same, but it's sort of on topic. I get 90 Tylenol 4's a month (Not enough, I need 120 but... That would cost about $30 more and I'm so poor right now) and I ALWAYS run out days before hand. Well, I was just going through my **** to see the dates where I got my prescription filled and it has been like this:
May 09
April 10
March 14
February 13
So I went... March-Feb, 29 days. March-April, 27 days, April-May, 29 days. They never have said anything to me about being early before.. and sometimes, I think it's been about 25-26 days in between prescriptions. I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be 30, but thank goodness my pharmacy never says ANYTHING to me. Maybe it's because they are both different medications (But are both still painkillers) that it's different... or all pharmacies just take different precautions. I usually go to this very small pharmacy, it's not part of a chain or anything. But sometimes I do go to CVS. It depends on how late it is.
